What a great story. Congratulations - that must be a very good feeling in the context of having the car damaged in the first place.

I think Philo's car may be an earlier version (Westminster) but I didn't want any cables trailing.

When the sparks and I were trying to sort it out, the problem was caused when putting the cable anywhere near the centre of the roof, not just through the grommets. As I said, just my experience....

Best,

Simon.

Hi MacPaul - I read your problem - I have exactly the same set up with no problems, installed by RoadRadio who are quite near to you. Maybe you can give them a shout or get them to have a look.

cheers

Thanks Smizit, I was just going to start another thread with an update.

I bought the Blackvue GR650S which has come out since my problem and it works fine.

I want to fit my hardware kit to my dash cam.

How do run the cable I from the fuse box behind the lower glove box up, along the a-pillar?

I can't see any easy way of getting the cable 'behind' the a-pillar trim .....

I was looking at going up from the glovebox to the base of the a-pillar, going around the base of the a-pillar towards the windscreen and then running it up to the top of the a-pillar.

The chap who did mine popped off the a-pillar trim, ran the cable and pressed it back on again.

Takes a bit of courage if you're not used to it but I've done a fair bit of trim removing on Defenders etc. and you really need the right tools, which can be either little plastic levers or a pair of trim removal pliers.

Both cheap on Ebay.
