2011 4.4TDv8 Fuel Guage problem.

My Dad has a 2011 L322 TDv8 4.4 full fat - with the fancy LCD instrument binnacle and pop up gear selector.

No problems so far, other that a couple of days ago when driving it went from 1/2 tank of fuel to showing completely empty immediately. The range has also gone down to zero and the nav screen is telling him to get to a fuel station sharpish.

There's a couple of Threads on here with people with similar problems, but on the 3.6 tdv8, and there's not been a resolution to those.

Has anyone had this problem before, and what was done about it?

From a diagnosis point of view, we have a hawkeye, which we both purchased for our older 2003 Td6's. Hawkeye tell us that it will work on all L322's (it did / does perfectly on the 2003 models), but that is questionable as the menu choices only go up to 2010 model year, not 11, so using a fault code reader is out of the question at this early stage, and we cant even find a workshop manual for the 4.4 - anyone have any suggestions to get one, or is the dealer the only option?

Cheers in advance

You can read, but not print, the 2011 workshop manual on Topix for £20 ( £17+vat ) for 24 hours.

From memory, they have 2 sender units.
You get to them from under the back seat by lifting the floor from the spare wheel well. 4 bolts hold down the 2 long retaining bars.
