fixed sunroof

I,m surprised at the number of cars that have the fixed roof, surely its better to have the opening roof as no cost option?
Just posting drivel as its so quiet here lately. Very Happy

Mine opens, but I'd rather it was fixed.....

I don't generally like having the roof open anyway, so it's one more thing to go wrong.

My car is currently in Bordeaux and I consistently use the press & hold the unlock button to open all the windows - but that also opens the roof - but when I get in, I feel the sun burning on my head, so the first thing I do is close the roof & blind again Rolling Eyes

I had a very bad experience with a sunroof in an L322.

Unknown to me one of the drains for the sunroof gutter had been misplaced when the car was built. Over time water got into the electrics under the passenger seat. The result was the need for a new wiring loom. It took the dealers top technician a whole week to replace it. I estimate the warranty claim with car hire etc was approaching 5 figures.

Previous sunroofs have been noisy when closed. Anyway I rarely use one. So I prefer to avoid them. One more thing to go wrong.

I thought the question was fixed vs opening pano roof..... agree, I like the glass - makes the cabin much more airy Thumbs Up

Mines never closed when I'm in it. Wouldn't buy a car without an opening roof....

Just me....

Ditto, and it would really bug me having the glass but not being able to open it!

The only thing that mildly annoys is that you have to press the button twice if you want to either open or close it in the sliding position Rolling Eyes. '14.5 SDV8 Nara Bronze for sale

Guys i do mean the fixed glass roof vs the opening glass roof.
For me i would want it to open. Just surprised at the amount out there that are fixed. But judging by the posts it seem quite popular just to want the fixed glass roof.

Fixed definitely looks better with the single pane of glass, and having it open always buffets at some point. Undecided.

I'll be ordering my next one soon and having the same dilemma.

Opening the roof does come in handy but at the same time, the idea of a full glass roof without the center cross member sounds even better.

If ordered as non-opening full glass that cross member is gone, right?

The bar would matter if I were sitting in the back - but as I'm the driver, it's always behind my head, so I don't really care.

Love the pano roof. I don't open the sunroof much on the L322. My disco has two sunroofs (1997) and they are a pain. Here there's now a premium for D1 and D2s withOUT sunroofs.
