Ive bought a set of L405 alloys for my L322, got them for a great price but there are a few marks on them, nothing serious and they look like theyve been sanded smooth before I got them, so really just need painting/spraying (tiny amount on each wheel - 2 or 3 areas on each rim, no longer than 25mm each area)

Am thinking can I mask it up and spray it, then lacquer it, just the area that needs doing? And are the alloys a 'standard' silver colour, as dont want to spray them the wrong shade of silver/alloy?

Any tips greatly appreciated guys

Hi, if you are planning to spray your wheels, it would be wise to find your local paint /body shop suppliers .They can help you with the paint.I would avoid painting small areas of your wheel ,as it will probably turn out patchy.Give the wheels a good wash before starting the paint preparation process.Carefully preparation and patience will give better results.You can buy wheel silver/lacquer from halfords but colour matching could be hit or miss .As with most paintwork, it boils down to your ability,working environment and time to get good results.Have a look on you tube to get some tips.Just read your post again,it might be possible to just colour the rim and lacquer all the wheel but it s difficult to say how successful it would turn out . Yes I have but definitely not with a rattle can. I use a relatively cheap touch-up spray gun (Sealey) but of course you need a compressor to do this. My results were just fine and as noted above, buy the paint from an auto paint factors.

Patience is also a good virtue when doing such tasks

Sparkle silver

Done several sets, good rub down finishing with wet and dry. Good clean and you are good to go either to a paint shop or as I did with Hammerite smooth on top of Hammerite primer both from rattle cans and remarks like how much they charge you for that finish says it all.
It is all in the prep and light coats and a wet and dry after any orange peel coats
