I've had some silly quotes for my Westie too, so am looking around as all our cars are up for renewal in next few weeks.
One thing I keep coming up against is that insurers won't let you apply your no claims against more than one car, but then say that no claims are earned by "people" not cars........seems like a bit of a con and significantly disadvantages those of us who have a third "weekend" car. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

I understood that to be the case, but Adrian Flux allowed me to use the full NCD from the fatty ( that i also had with AF at that time) on my Discovery 2 so there's obviously ways around these things. GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

Some will let you share the no claims - you only need to do that for one year - then you can get proof of no claims for both cars individually & transfer them to anyone else Thumbs Up

My renewal jumped this year & I found Aviva the most competitive.

Site sponsors A-Plan are also worth trying - due to a mix up I didn't get a quote from them - they called me back & my wife thought they were cold calling and told them where to go Whistle Embarassed

Privilege always let me use 2 lots of NBD on 3 cars after I pointed out the fact that with 2 named drivers and 3 cars the risks were not the same as 3 drivers with 3 cars. I'm good, but I still can't drive 2 cars at once. Thumbs Up

As for prices, always shop around. Complacency leads to higher costs without question. This is why it helps to use a broker sometimes although for the sake of 15 minutes on a comparison site even that advantage is fast disappearing.

Spent 45 minutes on the phone yesterday afternoon with my existing insurer - Admiral.

Their renewal price for our two cars was £636 (£170 more than last year Shocked Shocked ). After much discussion and telling them how cheap I could get it online, they had come down to £478 for both......go figure!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Then I asked for a price to add the Westie to the policy. First they said £600+ but when I pointed out:-

(a) it was my second car and I could only drive one at a time,
(b) that their website said they could consider my NCB on a second car and
(c) I had an online quote (from Admiral!!) of £414,
they came back with a price of £393 Thumbs Up

I always shop around every year and for the past three years have always been able to get Admiral to match or better any other prices I have found. This year was well worth the several hours trawling comparison sites etc.

The icing on the cake was when I said I was happy with all those prices, because the Westie then made it a 3 car policy a further discount was applied and all in I paid £827 for the 3 cars... Very Happy Very Happy 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography
