New car: lots of electrical gremlins

Hi all

I have been picking issues off one by one, but alas I wanted to share and hopefully gain some ideas from the community!

Car: MY06 Supercharged
Mileage: 48k

Issues:
1. Reverse camera just gives a black screen - appears to function but not get video feed
2. Sat Nav has the 'GPS' logo cross out in top left of screen when in the Nav System. Makes the whole thing pretty much useless as it doesn't move or change map position!!
3. The TMC logo on the top right seems to come and go, that is, get cross through and not.
4. Checked levels under bonnet today and noticed the coolant was frozen - is this normal?

Tried many different things recommended on the forums to rectify items 1 & 2 without luck.

Is there an independent specialist that serves West London? Otherwise, it will be off to Lookers!

Thoughts / ideas welcomed!!

Cheers
pdt

reverse screen

Intrested in whether you get any news - my screen is intermittantly black, in fact for the last month - until last fri when it jumped into life. Left the house some 20mins later and is again black. Haven't managed to get back to the UK to get it sorted out yet - i suspect a loose connection some where but for the life of i cannot see where.

Frozen? Shocked

With the current weather you need to drain off the coolant and get some fresh antifreeze mix in there pretty quickly.

Freezing coolant can do a whole load of damage. you really don't want to go there.

My concern.. .If the last owner was running the vehicle without enough (or any?) antifreeze did they actually look after the car at all?

Hi Fox

Thanks for that.
Figured as much.

Oddly - it is the right 'pinky' colour you would expect...
Will do another check to make sure that it was frozen or just me not knowing what I am looking at.

It could do with a little top up...

How does one do the drain off of the coolant? Easy job?

Cheers

Sorry am I being an ass?

Why not take the car back and get these issues sorted?

You say new car?

If mine had anything like this lot wrong it would been back on the dealers forecourt for fixing. 15MY SDV8 Vogue SE

I have the same problem. Would like to know if there is a solution instead of having to shell out 400 GBP for a new rear view camera! '01 1.8i Freelander. Grey/ grey

3 - My TMC comes and goes pretty regularly - I guess dependent on whether / not it's in a 'Classic FM' reception area (ie TMC info feed channel)

The "PINK/ORANGE" 50/50 Antifreeze from Halfords is pretty much the same stuff as the LR Rip off.....

Hi guys

It was a private purchase unfortunately! Buyer beware and all that...
Such is life...

An update:
The coolant wasn't frozen... it was just me being a bit perplexed with how the overflow return come in at the top and is all pink!

Looked a bit lower and saw liquid moving when I tapped it!

Tried the nav diagnostics last night... (753 thing) and there are no error codes showing!
I am thinking the antenna must be stuffed...

Going to play a bit more tonight and see what i can work out...
TMC is all happy again, must have been temporary reception issue.

Camera - still f3cked!

Going to drop the engine oil out of it tomorrow, even though service not yet due. Cold weather starts... going to drop in Mobil 1 synth I think...

Cheers
pdt.
