No drink spilt over the TR switches?

Not a cause, but it's possible that the rear diff clutch is still at least partly engaged if the component failure occurred whilst accelerating quickly from a stand-still or negotiating a slippery surface.

Was the car running when it happened or parked? A rat chewed one of mine's MAP sensor wires overnight which triggered restricted performance, but easily fixed.

I was sat waiting to pick the girls up at school and got bored Rolling Eyes and cycled through the programs and heights ironically just to check it all works , later my wife borrows the car and all the warnings come on and the car tells her to stop slowly .And just took it out so a trial , No ABS either . 2008 MY Supercharged

As it appears that the fault must have been diagnosed as a failed e-diff actuator motor, you might like to know that it's the same motor as fitted to all other LR e-diffs (D3/D4/RRS) so a used one at an appropriate price might be worthwhile.

Thanks for that , I have already had a look but found nothing yet and with my present mobility problem I'm probably going to bite bullet and get the stealers to fit a new one , I am also a bit weary of refurbished solenoids if they are so famously grumpy in the first place .
GAP were typically fantastic and offered to write a special build for my iiD and reflash the ECU because it is another known reason to pull the solenoid and therefore the diff down and create the cascade . I resoe that the solenoid had been failing for quite a while so was not likely to be a suden software failure . Upshot ? $1700 for the part Thumbs Up but I'm in a hurry , I'm keeping the car for ever and it's only money Neutral

Update , it's apparently a stepper motor not a solenoid . 2008 MY Supercharged

I would not expect to find a refurbished motor, only straight out of a wreck, but in removing the motor the diff is no longer complete so the price is usually 2/3rds or more of a new one. Since a used one could fail the same way that your's has, it's debatable if a used one would ever be good enough value.

Dan's price is likely to be a lot less than a new one from an Oz dealer so you might want to have a specialist LR workshop fit it. In case you aren't already aware, the control module will need to be calibrated to the motor/diff once a motor is removed.

The independent route would have been my preference and Dan has given me a good price trouble is I don't know an independent who could tackle the coding and calibration but I could do it with Gap's help and although they are very keen to give it a go I'm still recovering from my knee replacement so Barbagallo get a contribution the their marching powder fund and I get my car back fixed on monday .I have asked for the old unit back so I can look into refurbing it myself but they are already stalling on that saying it is in the bin already , I suspect they want to claim a surcharge back for themselves . 2008 MY Supercharged
