Intermittent "Phone not Fitted"

My 2007 TDV8 has bluetooth which has been working perfectly well.

The last couple of days however I have been regularly getting "Phone not fitted" when I get in, suggesting the bluetooth module is not being found.

Any ideas ? 2011 Stornaway Grey 5.0SC Autobiography

Hi,

I have a blackberry and an iPhone, but it seems to be that the system is missing nd not the phone. The same issue arrives regardless of phone. 2011 Stornaway Grey 5.0SC Autobiography

The system does not exist when it happens. No options at all, just "phone not fitted'

I can only assume it is the BT Module going intermittent or a cabling fault switching the unit off.

It does not matter if I don't take a phone with me to he car at all, or two at once. 2011 Stornaway Grey 5.0SC Autobiography

I get this all the time, quickest fix I find is to go the the off road screen and select the camera it realises it isn't that you want, as its tucked away in the glove box, and bingo the phone reappears. Geoff

When you use the "venture cam" it comes up with "Phone not fitted" i would first remove the camera from the equation...

i'm suggesting my favourite solution, the battery....could it be the battery power is not enough to get all the ecu's sparking up and the bluetooth one gets excluded . ... - .- -.

Hope it's not the battery as it has been replaced (along with the alternator) in recent weeks......... however I accept that past performance is no guarantee Wink

Have to admit to not having tried to call someone regardless.... and of course today it is behaving so will update when it next happens. 2011 Stornaway Grey 5.0SC Autobiography

Mine does this all the time and seems to be no reason for it. I had all of the software updated, it worked for a while and then again back to square one. I unpair it every now and again and re pair and that works for a while. If anyone can come up with a more technical fix i am all ears L405 4.4 SDV8 Santorini/Black VSE

After working perfectly for a month mine suddenly started doing this too. It disconnects every few of minutes and when it re-connects it causes the audio to drop out for a couple of seconds which is annoying the hell out me. The only thing I can think of as a cause is a firmware update I did on my iPhone 5. I'll test it with my wife's iPhone 4 and see if that's ok.

Yup! It's an IOS 6 problem, not the car. My wife's iphone 4S with IOS6.0.1 works fine, my iphone5 with IOS6.1.2 is causing drop outs. From what I've been reading on Apple forums this is a widespread problem.

Don't fully know if that is the case, but I think i've worked out the logic of why sometimes it doesn't work.

When you open the car, the computer starts (LR screen powering up) and pairs the phone fine. Now they (phone and car) are communicating. The car asks for a phone, to which the phone replies, I know this guy, i'll pair up. Problem ended.

Now, when you turn the key and start the car, the car computer restarts and requests once again the phone, to which the phone replies, no way, you're not the same guy which i'm paired with. So, now the phone is kinda connected, but not displayed, ''phone not fitted'' message appears. You can sitll make and receive calls during which time the system seems to power itself up only to display again the ''phone not fitted'' message when you hang up.

So the problem seems to be entirely on the computer restart part of the process. For instance, if you open the car and don't start it up, like when loading or something like that, the car computer will not power up, so the phone is left free, and only connects on the ignition phase, when the car computer fully powers itself up, getting at that point a successful connection (phone book, voice commands, etc..).
