Finally, I found the answer to what seems to be a very closely guarded secret, of how to get the lenses off of the sidelight indicator units, God knows why no one who had already succeeded with this modification were refusing to tell everyone how to do it. So with the weather against me today and boredom set firmly in, I decided to try and work this out for myself.

Firstly I tried the heatgun which I use to modify Discovery 3 headlights, No luck in this method.

Then I sat down, and started carefully running my stanley knife along the solid glue between the lens and the plastic, and after just a few runnings of the blade over the glue, hey presto, it came apart.

There you go, the closely guarded for whatever weird reason, secret exposed! Now I know this, I will be going back to the supercharged style rear lights I have and will see if I can rescue them afterall.

Sunday I will be working on both Range Rovers. This one is finally getting its painted rear light guards fitted. Feeling really excited.

I forgot to post a picture as to why I need a third brake light and panel.

Today turned out quite good for the L322, I finally managed to get the light guards fitted. I need to buy slightly longer bolts for securing the lights though as the original bolts barely catch, but the lights are secure.

I am really please with the result, and glad I painted them as they stand out more which is what I wanted.

Next weekend the current prediction for the weather is 17 degrees c, so if it does pan out that way, I am hoping to fit my chrome door handle covers.

I also had a go at getting my cup holder free in the passenger side, sprayed Mr Pledge in it, use a pry tool, but that tool wasn't quite big enough to hook it behind and pull it. So I will have to hunt through my tools and see where my trim removal tool set is this coming week. I am also going to be hunting for those LED bulbs that I bought for the interior as I want to get them fitted asap.

Yeah, I thought about the front light guards, but for the look I am going for on the front, I decided against adding them. Cheers for the heads up though.

The headlights and side lights are going to be painted black inside. I am not sure though if I am going to paint the plastic trim behind the head light wiper arms silver, black or blue. But the wiper arms for the lights will end up black.

I need to get the other Range Rover back on the road pronto though as it won't be long before this one is thrown in to the garage for work that will leave me without it for up to 2 weeks. And I need something I can use while it is gone. Right now the other one takes a nice big wee everytime it starts and the door was stuck shut. Now I have the opposite problem with the door and have had to order a tool to help solve the wee problem lol.

Somehow today, I found myself with about half an hour to kill between meetings, and on route to the next meeting I realised I was passing by a BMW specialist I used to use for my 728 BMW, and got an estimate for the chain. 14 hours at £48 per hour labour plus approximately £300 in parts. So looking at an estimate of £1032.

So that coupled with the £2100 quote for the gearbox mean I haven't got a horrendous amount of money left to raise to spend on making this one a gooden again. I am also looking at a complete exhaust system to collect from Hertfordshire, and have tracked down some other parts that are needed. So both Range Rovers are going to be keeping me on my toes this summer.

If your getting the timing chain replaced, there lots of bits worth doing at the same time. For that price i would think they would be missing bits which should get done. And make sure the timing chain guides are OEM. 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue

L322 is home after being away for 24 hours to have the rear brakes sorted. Since the MOT and parking the car pointing downwards on a slight hill, I noticed I was getting the standard oil puddle on the floor, only a tiny one. So asked the garage to look into it. I was not happy when I was told one of the things that is leaking is my rocker gaskets, considering the garage supplied and fitted them back in September 2016 and the car has barely even covered 1500 miles since I have owned it Rolling Eyes

Still fully love my Range Rovers though.

I am now on the hunt for the following parts:

Complete but used and good condition exhaust system.
Front wiper linkage.
Passenger Headlight.
Passenger sidelight.
Bonnet panel with the washer jets in.
Third brake light complete with the panel it sits in.
Passenger mirror unit.
Front passenger occupancy sensor.
Rear parking sensor loom.
Front drivers side height sensor.

I know the air suspension compressor needs attention soon, and even though the front suspension is all new, the suspension goes down over night and even when just parked for a few hours and it won't go up into off road height. But no error messages.

I think it is safe to say, it is well over due a wash and a good polish too. But not well enough at the moment after a failed operation, which I am now recovering from for 4 weeks before I go back in for operation number 2 to sort a problem out. So will be out of action really for about 6 and a half weeks. All I can say is, I am glad I have heated seats as it really helps with the pain lol.

Without any planning, my restful Sunday ended with me buying a job lot of parts for my car which worked out cheaper than buying some of the parts I needed out of this lot individually. I spent a little too much though including using the MOT money for both the P38 and Zafira lol. So now need to recoup some of the money asap. 1 part I found very interesting is the spoiler that has been attached to the front bumper. If the bumper was the right colour, I would be tempted to try it on my car just to see how it looks lol. But it is silver and I am not interested in adding it to my car.

In the job lot, also came a chrome front grill which is the PowerfulUK one that makes my model look like the facelift, and I am debating weather to paint it like my current grill or weather to just sell it on. Not sure how I feel about the facelift grill anymore. I bought a brand new Java Black one which I am selling on unused and the chrome one came as a used item.

Some people say I have had nothing but bad luck for the last couple of years, but now I feel that I am having some good luck despite the new neighbours not being nice people. I got superb news from the hospital in London today about life changing surgery I have been jumping through hoops for, for over 2 years, I met a great Range Rover owner today who I did a grill swap with for my P38 which helped him with the restoration of his P38 and me with the modifications on mine. I have bought a complete front end for my L322, so now have lights I can modify that don't have broken brackets. The stuff out of my outbuildings is selling pretty quickly so project money is coming in, and a couple of other positive things that I can't mention just yet.

I know the bumper isn't to everyones taste. I have ended up with a bit of a dilemma. The bumper itself isn't in great condition, needs some work done to it, so I am considering seeing if I can modify the lip spoiler so it doesn't have the huge curve in it and maybe fitting it to my car. Otherwise, I will either sell it as it is minus the fog lights that I have pinched off of it, or I will repair it properly as a sideline project, and get it all in primer ready for a buyer to go and get painted to match their car.

I am also having a similar dilemma about the chrome grill. As it is, I think it looks awful, but I am considering painting the outer bits black like I did with my current grill and fitting it. That is the trouble with me gaining parts. It starts giving me ideas lol.

I have advertised stuff already for sale in the right place and on other sites, so may have the temptation taken away from me at the right price. But I am now using the money to invest short term, wheel and deal and hope to fund my gearbox repair job independently to the household budget. This is how I used to get the cars repaired or get the money to get the parts so I could repair them.

I could really cry sometimes, coolant loss issue again. No visible signs of where it is coming out, No signs of it mixing with anything, I am hoping that it may have been 1 final air lock from somewhere, but suspect that the coolant may be going into the gearbox. I hope not, but I will be parking this Range Rover up within the next month hopefully while I use my other one if I can get the other Range Rover sorted within the next couple of weeks.
