Xenon bulb failure?

Looking for advice regarding the mode of failure for a xenon headlight bulb before I splash out £100 on a new bulb {L405}

Noticed that the NS bulb glowed a slightly blue then orange colour for a few moments, then went out. Switched headlights off then back on and it comes on again then does the same. This can be repeated.

Do xenons act this way before dying completely, or are they like halogens that just die?

TIA

Not yet Axel, but it doesn't look like a 5 minute job, so thought I'd ask first before trying that. GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

In my experience with my L322 it is more likely to be the ignite than the bulb based on the behaviour you describe.
