2006 L322 V8 Diesel 3.6 Servicing

Quick question guys. My car was last serviced in January at 81,931 miles and is now showing 99,300 with lots of motorway miles. I know the service intervals are determined by the computer but 17k miles sounds like a lot to me without any indication my car is due for a service.

Any thoughts from the wise folk out there? Shocked Question

I believe it's 15000 or every 12 months but it should alert you unless something has been turned off. I think a lot of people work on 12000 miles or 12 months. Should go oil service, inspection 1, oil service, inspection 2 and so on.

I don't think you can without the iid tool or equivalent. There may be a way that someone else can shed some light on though without a tool.

Certainly won't harm having more service rather than less even if it's just oil changes to keep everything running tip top!

Mines had a service every 10,000km or 6,000 miles since new.

I thought service intervals on the tdv8 was initially set at 10,000 then changed to 12 or 15,000km service intervals. ______________________________

I reckon someone's disabled it. Even though the Land Rover dealer should have spotted it last service when they reset.

I am similar to you in doing high motorway miles and for the first two services after I bought the car, I didn't receive a service due message on the info bar, but had it serviced anyway at around 15,000 miles after the previous owner's last service and then 19,000 on the second service.

After 16,000 from that service, I actually got a message up saying an oil service would be due, in I think it was 1000 miles. with then a countdown every time I switched the ignition on until the service.

So, I think it could quite possibly be working but reflects the driving you've done - I think I was probably more heavy footed between the last interval.

Jack

PS. By the way, there is no set service interval, either distance or time, for the TDV8, only via the engine management system. I generally have had it serviced every twelve months with an interim oil and filter change at around 8000 miles - usually at someone like Kwikfit with the annual service at a main dealer.

Thanks Jack, puts my mind more at ease. I am worried someone at some point has disabled or tampered with the system. However, the service records are all there and 99% LR.

I've booked her in anyway.

You're welcome:)

I decided I would go 12 months or 20,000 with, as I say, an interim oil change, if I did not get a message beforehand.

I don't know about you, but I find the car is a great motorway car - very relaxing in terms of comfort and visibility.

I've just done 3000 miles in eight days taking my daughter to university in the south of France and then across to La Rochelle and then back home. We were on the autoroutes for 95%+ of the journey at 85mph and the car behaved beautifully - decent mpg of around 26mpg, even with a loaded car and a roof box on and ice-cold air-con in 28-30C of heat without a hiccup. Not bad for a car with 133,000 miles on the clock. MY 2007 3.6 TDV8 Vogue SE

Jase, there is every chance your service count down meter was never switched on at point of PDI sir...

We find it a bit of a lottery as to weather it works or not... Rolling Eyes

There is a CCF file for the service count down meter Thumbs Up

Thanks Craig. I certainly have a lack of faith in the sensors and software at the moment!

Btw, I'm still keen to get that reversing cam sorted by your good self. Will email to see when you have a booking time free Very Happy
