Just bought the missus a new motor- 1.5turbo Mini Cooper

My missus has been running a 2012 Nissan Qashquai for the last 12 months or so but the local carpark near her work has started to charge £14 per day!! Censored so she now has to park in tiny roadside bays. So we decided that it was time to get her something a bit smaller. There is only usually a max of 3 people in it and when we go out as a family we take my FFRR so we shortlisted either a fiat 500 or mini

First we went and had a look at fiat, which she liked very much but after a trip to the local mini dealer she decided that she liked that more

So after about 3 hours in the dealers today we have ordered a Ex demo (3000 mile) 16 plate 5 door Mini Cooper 1.5 turbo. Will be my first mini since a 1972 1275gt that i had at 16 Embarassed

Has anyone on here had anything to do with them that can give me some pointers?

Cheers

SWMBO has a Mini One, had it for 5 years and loves it. I hate the thing, the suspension is super grippy but not comfortable.

It doesn't look that tiny to me. Modern Minis are bloated and rather large these days.

Is it really that much smaller than the Nissan? Si. <This is my name.

I quite like them. On our second Mini currently. First was my wifes 2004 Cooper S which was nice and got a GP2 last year which is so much better built than the previous one. Great little cars. Interested to see what the new Countryman is like when it comes out.

Am sure you will enjoy it, but as others have said they are not that small anymore!

cheers Alex

My son bought a used one and I was very impressed by its roller-skate-like cornering ability. He'd only had it 4 months and the engine blew up while his wife was driving. Fingers were pointed but, in the end, he broke it for parts and sent the leftovers to the scrap yard. 2006MY 4.2 SC

We are on our second Mini Cooper S. The current one is 2 years old. The previous one we had for 8 years. My only problem with the first one was 17" rims and runflat tyres. Because of the low profile of the tyres and the stiff walls of the runflats I had to have several rims replaced. I insisted on 16" rims and normal tyres when I ordered the current MCS and so far no problems with the wheels.

We've just ordered a new Cooper to act as a third car. The fuel savings commuting to work almost cover the outlay per month and it gives me more time to work on the endless full fat maintenance jobs Thumbs Up

Must admit i find the MPG shocking whenever i drive the other halfs car. I consider anything over 20mpg reasonable Rolling with laughter so when i see cars like hers that can easily get over 60 i feel a bit guilty for running the sort of cars i have

Guess that makes me a dinosaur but i still love my rangie Thumbs Up

We have an '05 Cooper S Convertible - has been a great little car - other than servicing, tyres & brakes, all it's needed in an exhaust

I can't see the point in selling it as it costs us next to nothing....

Am after a new car for Swmbo at the moment and the Octavia is getting on a bit. Longest I have ever had a car.......

Mini is on the medium length list though I have to admit a clubman cooper S would be my preference. Just like the barn doors Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Think the new one is a bit big too. I had a first generation one as a courtesy car with the daft rear door. Was only a diesel but was nice to tool about in for a few days. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

The 5 door that we have just bought is about 6" longer than the standard 3 door but the new clubman is about a foot longer than the old clubman Shocked Paul
