Fiat 500x

Went car shopping with swmbo, big supermarket with many different cars.

She Decided they were all boring except for the Mini Clubman which was definitely too big and the fiat 500x which she liked. And tbh I thought looked pretty decent.

So it looks like we are heading for a Petrol 1.4 multi air, as if I get her a diesel she will just put petrol in it in any case......

Never been a fan of Fiats as to me it has always meant "fix it again Tony" but these seem fairly well screwed together, and are a lot cheaper than I thought they would be at 12 months old, which doesn't bode well for future values.....

But it looks like the Skoda is going to have to go soon Thumbs Up so something has got to fill the space!

Anyone got one or something Fiat, any problems etc....... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

My good lady drives a bog standard Fiat 500 and it's an awesome little motor, extremely well screwed together !!!
Goes forever on a tank full of petrol, usually takes less than 40 quid to brim it !!
She's also got a 53 plate Mini Cooper S, but she much prefers the 500
I drive the 500 occasionally, and I find plenty of room in the cockpit, and I'm over 6'2" talk.
Hope that helps Thumbs Up

Cheers chaps,

Gone for the one in the motor store, not a bad price, 1.4 petrol 500x. Seemed OK, nothing special to drive but SWmbO likes it, pick it up tomorrow. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

We changed wifey's bombproof Honda Jazz in December last year for a 500s Twin Air. It's a cracking little car. Not everyones cuppa - but we love it - and my neighbour with his fancy £20k Mini JCW laughed when I told him it had a 875cc 2 cyl turbo. His has spent more time back at BMW than any car I have ever known.....he's just ordered an Abarth 595 Thumbs Up Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

We have a Fiat Freemont (7 seater crossover based on Dodge Journey but never introduced to UK for some reason). Had it new since 2013 - requires service every 2 years or 20k and thats the only time it has been in the workshop. It has had one recall which to be fair wasn't Fiat's fault but the company that supplied the nav software for them - the supplied a batch of units that required annual subscriptions rather than lifetime use, 5 mins at the dealers thr plugged a usb flash drive into the headunit updated software and all sorted.
It has been a really great car and i won't hesitate to swap it for a new one when its 3 years is up. Thumbs Up 2008 TDV8

So far so good.

Plus points - nippy, and drives quite nicely, interior is pretty funky, Tom Tom nav, seems quite well screwed together

Negatives - not too many, but the pleather is a bit, well... pleathery, uconnect app on the nav unit is useless, Bluetooth does work but you have to select the album manually on the phone first, so USB works better!

Apart from that there is little to fault. Quite pleased with it!! Oh and it's red!!

I'm with 'n1cktdv8', we opted for a 500 TwinAir...brilliant fun! Considering we do a daily commute from Kent to central London, it cruises well at 70(+) Wink , and puts a smile on your face while navigating the city streets. Add to that there's no car tax or congestion charge to pay (875cc, turbo charged), it's the perfect little pocket rocket.

Yes, I would have preferred the 595 Abarth Thumbs Up , but that kind of defeats the purpose of a frugal daily commuter (although everything's relative I guess). Life is what happens while youre making other plans.

See where you're coming from mate
My good lady is a community nurse, so uses hers to do her rounds in Smile
So it would cost her more to go to work Surprised
It's really me that wants one Laughing
I've always had a liking for small nippy cars, suppose it's down to growing up in the 80s with the 205 Gtis etc

Once had an Mk 1 Astra GTE in white, lovely car
Then we started having kids and it went downhill from there Laughing Laughing

And we thought LR dealers were Censored clueless .......

Car is running fine when I drive it, yet the mrs seems to be having an issue with hill starts and the EPB release, so much so it just smells of burning clutch now. Not sure what she was doing as it works perfectly for me...... Anyhow i digress.

Bristol Street Fiat... Clueless (bought it off arnold clarke btw not fiat)

They operate a dumb as Censored call centre in gateshead and it is impossible to speak to the actual service desk in derby,

I wanted to find out what oil they use in the changes in the workshop as it has a specific spec and is like rocking horse poo. the Bristol street call centre duly called me back and told me it needs 10/40 oil fully synth, which is total BS as I know it takes 0/30 oil to a specific fiat spec. So I call derby Fiat Parts,

Oil please.....
Sorry sir we don't sell oil........
Do you have a filter for it......
Yes we do and its in stock.......
can you ask the workshop what oil they use please.......
ok sir bear with..........I think its 0/30 selenia apparently sir
but you don't sell it.
no
why?
because we have to buy in 4 cases at a time
but arguably if you bought 4 cases you would probably sell them as nowhere seems to stock it! ok any idea where i can get it
Beechdale alfa romeo might have some......
FFS. ok. Bye.

so I gave up and rang Platts in Stoke, who answered the phone in 1 ring and straight through to a man who knew what he was on about, Selenia Digitek PE 0w30, in stock apparently. But I don't live in stoke, so: Info good, location Bad.

so went to Alfa and yes they did sell it at........ £39 for 2L...... Big Cry Big Cry anyhow. its now had an oil and filter change courtesy of me, as the dealer wanted £165 for the privilege, and it only needs 3.2l of oil. Job done 15 mins on the drive.

So I decided to call the call centre again to see how much the next annual service would be, in 9000 miles time, £393.40. WTF I can get the FF serviced for that much, its only plugs, filter, and oil, then check that the doors are still attached!!!!! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
