United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Vogue TDV6 Corris Grey
Surprise Feature - Emergency Brake

I was out on a LR experience day in the week and discovered a new feature on the L405 (thanks to out instructor Rob). Turns out that if the driver/passenger yanks the electronic brake while the vehicle is moving it will perform an emergency stop. Quite unnerving when he tried it, but it removes all power from the vehicle (even if you foot is fully on the throttle) and brings the car to a stop.

You never know if your driver passes out, or falls asleep on you this may one day save your life......just don't tell your young kids about it as temptation may get the better of them Shocked 2021 L405 Vogue D300

I learnt that one on my LR Experience day too.

I've not actually tried it yet, but it is supposed to be the fastest and safest way to stop the car, but feels like hitting a wall Shocked

This has been a feature for a very long time, even in L322 with the electronic handbrake. Probably works in the D3 too (I'll check later). But as posted, it is quite un-nerving and serves to demonstrate that most of us rarely use the brakes to the full potential. But when we do...

I drove across the Furka pass in Switzerland last week. A guy in a Ferrari behind stopped and asked why we used the hazard flashers at every corner? An example of a Land Rover feature not working as intended as we were not having an accident at all. The fact that we also had smoke billowing out of the wheel arches, front and rear, rather gave the game away.

I am so looking forward to trying this....without warning my wife in advance, of course.

To clarify, does the brake button need to be held for a few seconds , or just a quick flick?

Held on throughout the process Mr Tee Thumbs Up

And takes a good half a second to react to being pulled (to save accidental deployment by kids id imagine)

The same information was passed onto me on my Experiance day.
It is well worth the time and effort. I even extended my half day into a full day. I did not cover anything new but had a much longer go with everthing. This is the only time I think I will ever put such a car through "ruff tuff and tumble".
Excellent day

LR have had this on disco and rangey for almost 10 years. My D3 had it and it was a 2005 car. It was detailed and demo'd to me on my LRE day almost 10 years since ago. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........
