New Westminster, various small questions!

Hello All. I've just bought a lovely 2012 Westminster, my first L322, had 4 classics in the past. Love it but a couple of things I don't understand and I've had a search on the forum so now it's time to ask!

Firstly the radio comes on too loud. I can't find the setting that changes how loud it initially comes on and I've tried various things like turning it off at the volume I want but it always resets to come on at the same overly loud volume.

Second thing is I have drive away locking enabled, however unlike my other cars, when I turn the ignition off it doesn't unlock the car so I have to remember to push the unlock button on the dash before getting out or I can't get into the other doors or boot. Of course I can double pull the driver's door handle to get out but it leaves the rest locked.

The car came with a set of wireless headphones which I thought could be used with the twin screen TV for the passenger. I'm beginning to think I need RSE which I haven't got, so have I simply got a lovely pair of useless ornaments?

Some of the features in the menus aren't easy to find and need the owner's manual to hand to find them at first. There might be a copy in Wiki (under the fullfatrr.com top right) if you don't have one.

As for the locking, I leave the feature on (more for peace of mind for my wife when she drives alone) and use the button under the hazard light to open all door when I stop.

Thanks, that's what I'm doing with the locking currently. Might be seen as better security to only unlock when a button is pushed?

I've read every word on every page of the manual! Nothing about start up volume. Must be configurable surely?

On mine the volume is the same as it was when the car was switched off, I had assumed that was the default setting. Perhaps it is a case of getting a LR dealer to reboot the software. Only Range Rovers since 1988

i think if you press the tone button for a few seconds a global volume menu comes up where you can set the default volume... ... - .- -.

Pushing the tone button for a few seconds gives me lots of volume settings, however none of them is for default volume! I can set the phone, nav, voice feedback and other volumes though so that's also useful thanks!

I'll have a chat with my friendly dealer who may be able to help. Wonder if it's done in the computer diagnostics machine?

thinking about this last night and wondered if you set the required volume and then pressed the memory button on the seat....this should memorise the settings including the volume on the key fob [maybe Mr. Green ] ... - .- -.

Go to tone settings (bottom left button) make sure Source tone memory is enabled and set the volume before you turn the ignition off. That should sort that. As for the ignition off / door unlocking scenario, i'm not sure they do that! but if all else fails RTFM Very Happy 2006 RR sport HSE

Tried both those too and it doesn't cure it, but thanks for the suggestions! Any more really welcome! The locking is the way it is but the volume is driving me nuts.

Speak to Craig @ Cam-Tech - he used the IDTool to setup my Westminster settings (DLRs, auto-unlock when ignition off, dash changes etc), really makes big difference...

Similar sort of thing with my 2003 L322 - sometimes the volume is off, sometimes very quiet and sometimes the same as when switched off. Not had it come on too loud though so I dont worry about it but I can see where full volume on all speakers (how many are there exactly - I think I've counted 13, but not sure) could lead to serious ear-bleeding.... QUID FACIUM TIBI

Like the O/P I've been to the "Volume" menu, bu as previously quoted, this just affects the offsets, not the default/startup volume.
