Completely pointless question

OK, so it's about a toy, specifically the park assist feature. Mine has it although I really don't need it, but out of curiosity I have been trying to use it.

Now, according to the manual a parallel park is one press of the button and drive slowly along a line of parked cars until it finds a suitable space. Fine. Not much use to me as I tend not to park on the roads.

But, allegedly 2 presses gives the reverse into a space from a 90 degree angle. Not so on mine, 2 presses just turns park assist off again.

Like I said, not that I can see me using it but I was bored whilst waiting for SWMBO to come out of the shops so I ended up reading the manual. But why doesn't it work? Any ideas chaps?

It will only function when a woman is sat in the drivers seat, as any man is capable of doing it unaided. letters not necessarily in the right order

LOL, I knew there would be a load of pi55 taking

I *know* I should never have read the manual but I was bored. So now I know it's there I want the thing to work, well at least look as if it works. Just want to see the car do all that steering and see how much of a dogs breakfast it makes of the manoeuvre Laughing

If you press it once and drive along the line does one other press constitute a second ie. two presses? John

I might have this wrong but weren't there two systems that had to be specced separately? One for parallel parking and then an additional one for reverse parking (only available if you'd specced the first)

Ah, you might be on the money there EM.

So, driving along, one press turns it on and it starts looking for a parallel park space. At this point, the manual says a 2nd press activates reverse into a space at 90 degrees - in a car park for example. But on mine the 2nd press turns it all off. Probably not a bad thing TBH Laughing

My take on this is that if you are incapable of parking a car without electronic aids then you shouldn't be allowed to drive one!

Agreed. But a gadget is a gadget. Dude, you telling me you don't do gadgets? Laughing

Let's be honest, nobody really NEEDS half the stuff on these things, but they are cool to have. Like I NEED a towbar, but I don't really NEED the electric deployable one at 2 grand. Which one am I gonna buy though. Cool
