Car tax Hybrid Volvo almost as expensive as a FFRR next year

Hi

I pay £500 for my L322 which is fine as she's worth it! However only £50 saving for hybrid from next year. I'll stick with the old girl.

- just read article about new tax rules next year:

For example, under the current system, the Volvo XC90 T8 (a plug-in hybrid with emissions of less than 50g/km) pays no VED. Under the new system, the £10 first-year rate will be followed by annual bills of £450 (the flat rate of £140, plus the £310 supplement for cars with a list price of more than £40,000) for five years.

Its a pity but it applies for vehicles registered from 1st April 2017. Vehicles registered before the date remain on the current system.

Definitely a kick in the balls when vehicles which start off at over £40k and in the 4th year are more likely to be £10-20k it's a lot of money that's going to definitely affect sales on the used market for those that factor it in.

Be nice if it was the pre mot price as well and not the total on the road price... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
