I'll hope you'll have more use of them than the previous winters! |

That would be enough to bring the whole of the UK Rail network to a standstill |

I agree with you - but here in the fatherland you have to have appropriate tyres from October to eastern - it is stipulated by law ![]() 2024 RR Velar 2021 AM new Vantage |

Yes, although in their defence I would point out that the UK has way too much variety to cope with, that's the problem. We can't afford to prepare for every eventuality since there are so many of them. Leaves, in fairness, are well prepared for as they do come every year but snow, ice, even a hot summer are kind of 1 in 10 years events and it costs too much to keep all that kit just in case. Like Spelunker pointed out, we never actually had Winter last year. But El-Nino, Jetstreams and of course, being a relatively small land mass in the Atlantic makes it all a bit unpredictable. Whereas in ze Fatherland where Frank is they get much more predictable weather than we do. Mind you, I'll take unpredictable weather over too many rules any day ![]() Oh, nice boots Frank ![]() |

Anyway below 7 degrees it is more secure to have winter tyres for the grip. |

Of course the other issue we have in the UK, particularly in Autumn/ Winter, is the devastating effect inclement weather can have on the train crews! Only this week the train from Plymouth to Paddington was delayed because the train crew didnt turn up, presumably because there were some leaves / rain on the road which, not having winter tyres fitted to their mode of transport, prevented the train crew from getting to the station on time to start up their allocated HST125. Of course it could have been that they just couldnt be arsed!! |
