If the pump has been left to run and run because of a leak they can be just worn out, it's worth trying the piston ring first though...

I bought my new compressor off of e bay, about £300 Three things in a blokes life his dog,his car and a Cornish pasty,nothing else matters.

If your going to keep the car then a new compressor will give you peace of mind... the bore on the compressor is a chemical lining, in an alloy cylinder, it does wear out and very quickly once the piston ring has worn out. There is no way of refurbishing a scored cylinder, and as far as I know, you can't buy a replacement cylinder without buying the whole pump.

It pays to do a google, as they discounted every now and then, I think mine came from Ribble Valley 4x4, but it might have been Island 4x4! I would do a search for RQL000014 and see what you can find...and remember that a supplier will only sell new.. if you go to the bay of fleas be careful... there are SH and "refurbished" which I wouldn't trust Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
