So the quicker I get the EGR valves changed the better the engine and my pocket will be. Range Rover quotes.....

The issue I could see as well having replaced mine myself is that they sometimes fall to pieces internally. Depending on how it falls apart this may get sucked into the turbo although that's a small possibility.

If you're handy with a spanner then its not a complicated job just fiddly. There's a good write up on here by ebajaema which I followed along with the workshop manual where necessary (although it's not required but I was doing it between other jobs and chaotic work so took me a couple of weeks). Worth changing water pump while you're there too. Ed

Sorry thermostat housing. Because by the time you've removed the EGRs you've done all the work to gain access to it. If you've got some sign of leaks in the valley then it's worth changing as the O rings have a tendency to perish. Ed

Rolling Eyes I wouldn't have thought this possible as they are after the turbo.. so the air flow is from the turbo to the EGR Via the intercooler (if it has one), for bits of the EGR to end up in the turbo, the turbos have either got to run backwards or, more likely, end up in the exhaust side... in which case they have already gone through the engine Shocked

As Mikey said, turbo failure is more likely from overspeed due to a blown hose, or, restricted oil supply... which could be caused by the EGR putting too much soot in to the induction side of the engine..... A diesel engine is dirty enough without dumping extra soot in to the heads.... Progress? Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

So after all the head scratching above and answer seeking....... Can the car be driven slowly ie to the garage to be fixed and when the EGR valves are fixed what's the chances of the turbos being effected or going at a later date. Range Rover quotes.....

Fairly minimal I would have thought. Personally I'd only drive it to the garage and no other runs. Whilst I think the chances of damage are minimal if something does go then the bill will go up by at least one extra zero I would have thought, if you're lucky! Ed

Its the misses car she drives like miss daisy back and fro work which is 2 miles there and 2 miles back daily and up her mothers which is another 1 miles max.

So the car gets driven 5 miles a day at 30mph and when I'm in it I drive like STIG flat out foot to the floor. Range Rover quotes.....

Update.

We had RAC garage cover and they said sorry EGR valves are not covered plus the garage the RAC said yo take it to said sorry we're not touching it see a specialist.

So FFRR is now with a LR specialist in Caerphilly and they quoted so far close on £1000 plus to change the EGR valves

Whistle could have got a nice set of shiny spanners, 2x EGR and a IIDtool for that, and still have enough to go to Mac Donalds for a Happy Chappy Meal Whistle Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
