Heated seat doesn't work until engine restarted

So i've had this a few times in the past week now. Get in the car stick the heated seat on and nothing happens.
However, the next day it starts working again?

At first I did a quick search on here and thought perhaps the fan is gone or the plastic piping is split, but apparently not.

In traffic this morning with a freezing bum i decided id turn off the engine and restart it, as soon as i restarted the heated seat came back on and stayed on and hot for over an hour after, so it surely cant be split piping or anything to do with the heating element itself, right? Must be a control module?

The LED's on the heated seat button stay on as usual...

Just wondering if anyone has had this exact problem. Obviously many people realising their heated seats don't function now the weather is getting cold Laughing Jordan

this might be one of the quirks of owning a FF..
yesterday i couldnt select any of the radio options on the touchscreen even though they beeped when clicked..stopped , restarted and all was well again..

i think its down to the cold and the battery not being 100% ,cos after a run and the battery has had a charge everything works ok ... - .- -.

Yes maybe it is Stan Big Cry

Annoying though because I've just had a new battery and use the heated seat almost everyday and never once had this issue up to the past week! Jordan

Until you have a look at the Peltier cell and read the codes you won't know anything for sure ,it could be that you moved and closed the pipe up a bit . Nearly always goes intermittent when it starts to fail . 2008 MY Supercharged

Ok, yeah i did move the seat all the way back and all the way fordward last week so could potentially be related. Guess i need to do a visual check then get it scanned. Need an IID tool Whistle Jordan

Update

Ok so I got an IID Tool and did the scan. I got the attached image:

Assuming this means the fan is overheating because of a damaged/loose piping and the pressure. So my next question is, how much of a job is it to trouble shoot this and replace the necessary part Big Cry Big Cry Jordan

Mines a bit funny, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I can tell immediately by feeling under the seat to see if the fan is spinning - if it is it works if it isn't it doesn't - generally a restart sorts it. Geoff

Interesting Geoff. How long has yours done that?

Had mine 6 months / 12k miles and it only started a few weeks ago from what I can tell, so not sure it's just a quirk.

Thing is if it really was damaged piping/pressure drop causing the fans to over hear, why would a restart fix it? Question Jordan
