New Owner queries - 2012 MY

Hi,

Just had my '12 Westminster edition for a week, loving it so far but its my first LR product so need a little help on a few things.

I have an ipod cable in the armrest but its the older 30 pin style. Does anyone know if I add an apple 30pin to lightening adapter to it if it will work as normal? Don't want to spend £25 testing it...

I don't have a DVD player but I do have a tv receiver so I can see tv on the screen when stopped. Is there any way of playing movies to the passenger in the front on the dual view thingy? Ipod or USB or adding a DVD player in the boot?

Can I get the nav system to show directional changes or something on the speedo display (my 2006 7 series did this very neatly)? This screen seems grossly underused to my mind... I'd love to get a numeric speed readout right in the middle of the display!

Thanks!

Mark

Thats useful, thanks.

Making better use of the screens would be nice but its not why I bought the car so at least I don't have to mess about trying to make it happen!

Sounds helpful! So is that a dealer thing? Presumably for a fee? I do have an LR warranty so don't want to mess that up!

If your going to keep the ffrr and your planning on doing any form of maintenance, other than washing it, you'll find one of these invaluable... plus at what LR charge to plug it in... it don't take long to be in a profit situation Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

To get the arrows on the nav, activate the voice control and say

"Navigation show arrow guidance"

It will show it if it can....

Took me a while to find that Whistle

On an RRS (Sport) am I allowed to say that here? if you buy the ebay version of the adaptor it half works, or at least mine did and others on the RRS forum confirmed the same. It either didn't charge or wouldn't connect properly, can't remember which. When I bought the genuine apple adaptor it worked perfectly.

Not sure if the el cheapo ones work? The gen apple converters have a DAc in them which provides the analogue audio feed. Not sure if the LR system uses the analogue feed or if it takes the digital feed From the phone...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Whistle I suspect that knowing the way Apple charges licence fees... LR will go for the analog option Thumbs Up

I know that you can get a handy lead from Pink Pong that gives you a audio and video out from an iPod... the question is does the later ffrr have an aux video input? Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I'm happy to report that the Aux in socket with a cheapo bluetooth adapter works wonderfully for playing music off a phone whilst leaving calls still coming through the stereo.

Also, in another happy discovery I was able (with the help of this site and a certain auction site) to add a remote to the FBH which means a toasty car in the morning with zero effort. This was stupidly easy, just unplug the receiver (which in my 2012 was in clear view and not hidden) and press the off button within 6 seconds.

Thank you!
