Fleabay Bargain and bit of dye....back to Black...

Well not really sure it can be classed as a mod. More returning car back to how it should be.

My 2008 FFRR VSE black on black didn't come with a parcel shelf. Strangely the black one seems to have gone missing. Not the dealer I may add. Rare as hens teeth I hear and prices of scabby second hand ones seem crazy.

Well managed to bag a perfect condition grey one locally on fleabay.

So was going to recover in leather or leatherette but thought I'd try some black fabric dye I had in garage from another project. Only had a bit left. But if terrible then no matter as covering will hide it.

Well loving the results so far.

Just awaiting more dye to arrive then couple of coats and should be good to go.

Well first tried applying by cloth but cloth soaked up to much. So changed to brush method, plus added little bit of water to the dye to help it penetrate which seemed to work.

Letting this dry now and see how it looks. Its only 1 quick coat so far. Current Family:

The Finished Product.

Just completing the drying process but very very happy with the results.

Changed to applying the dye with spray bottle. Much better result and much easier to apply.

Worth a fortune now Laughing Laughing

Around 300ml. with approx 100ml of water.

Spraying was definitely the way to go. Just watch the over-spray but it does allow you to get an even finish and saturate the material. Current Family:
