United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Santorini Black

Hi,

Has anyone found a system that actually works?

I started playing today and have sussed the fog light problem but now have a fault on the dash plus the sides/indicators flash faster than my Mrs on a Friday night everytime I first start up

Is there a solution??

Please help

hi there are a few kits out there that will do the job inc the fog light prob... the fast flashing of the indicators is down to the lcm checking for bulbs out, because leds use far less current then normal bulbs the small current the lcm puts down the wires to check the normal bulb, this would not be high enough to light it but with the led it will so thats why you see it flashing, are you using resistors... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

That was tomorrows job?

Parallel or series? on both sides/fog/inds? someone has mentioned 50W resistors but what resistance etc Im getting to think I may have bitten off too much?

I really dont want to do what I would class as a bodge ie leaving old bulb holders hidden

Have you done yours?

25w load resistor for the side lights and 50w load resistor for the indicators wired in as you would a bulb across the positive and negative, put load resistor in ebay theres plenty to go at.

As said before its the resistance value thats the key yes you need atleast 25watt resistors mounted to interior body this will eliminate all dash issues you can turn off lamp check in navcoder but you can not stop cold check so you will allways get a very quick lamp flicker

So what resistance do they need to be(Ohms) ??

So its not possible to stop the quick flash on start up then?

Surely DDC and the like have found a work around??

i did the conversion on mine and after fitting the load resistors i havnt noticed any flashing what so ever, they all work as they should. there is no big secret at all, just get the resistors i said and they will all work fine. Thumbs Up

OK, working out resistor values is relatively simple using Ohms Law. This states that:
V=IR (Volts equals Current multiplied by resistance)
AND
P=VA (Power in watts equals volts multiplied by current in amperes)

So as an example, if you have a regular 21watt indicator bulb which you are replacing with a lower power LED unit of 4 watts you need to shunt enough current to make the 4 watt LED look like a 21watt globe. In other words, you need to force another 17watts of current draw.

So, 12 volts is known and 17 watts is also known. Thus 17/12=1.41 AMPS.
it follows that to shunt 1.41 amps at 12 volts requires about 8.5 ohms.

Now you have all values required to make a sensible selection. 17 watts so a 25 watt resistor (next value up) and 8.5 ohms which would sensibly be a 10 ohm unit (nearest available)

Hope this helps a bit

Dom

A 'How To' of the 2010 tail light swap would be quite helpful I'm guessing, especially as I'm possibly thinking of swapping mine to 2010 spec tail lights.... Whistle

Any updates on this topic? I am still having problems with my rear fog lights always being on. I tried relays but the buzzing sound is soo loud when I turn on the lights. Any more info on this would be much appreciated.
