Any opinions on this grille?

I'm thinking of swapping the front grille on my 2006 in Buckingham blue for something like the one in the link below.

Just wondering if anyone has any opinions on it, or if anyone has ordered one of these from this seller.

I know it has a black surround which I'm sure could be resprayed if necessary but since my FFRR is so dark I don't think it will actually stand out too much.

I also know the purists will probably say don't touch it and leave the original bar grille where it is, I'm not looking to go OTT with any bling, just looking to freshen up the front a little, plus when I bought it it has light guards fitted which I wasn't keen on so removed them but this has obviously left four holes in the original (plus the wings) which I've plugged with some black plastic plugs.

As I say, it's a 2006 with the rounded headlights so I'm pretty sure it will fit and I'm not planning on spending too much on it so all opinions would be gratefully received, or a push in the right direction towards another budget option.

Many thanks..... Thumbs Up

Thanks guys, not wanting to sound like the skinflint that I am Whistle the price seems pretty good, anyone know any other similarly priced options or is this the best out there?

I'm not really worried about quality, beyond not not being made out of cardboard, and the fitment being reasonable.

It's a copy supercharged grill so loads of facelift ones have them so will look good!

Mine had the supercharger grill with grey surround till I changed it to the l405 style one I got second hand off eBay which was the powerful one but they are double the price new. I did read on here though that sometimes the supercharged grills bit is painted plastic that can chip and scratch which will detract from the look nut not sure how this one will fare.

Thanks kbald, yes, I had thought about the poor paint quality and getting chipped, I have all the gear and have done some spraying in the past so maybe a coat or two of lacquer before fitting might help that.

And thanks Dolphinboy, that looks good, it's a pretty popular and easy mod/upgrade, just to freshen it up, that's a very clean looking motor you have there, I'm also thinking of doing a light tint like yours, looks good, thanks.

I've had an email about unusual activity on my paypal account, or it being accessed from a new browser or device in Romania so I'm waiting to hear back from paypal before I order anything.

This is a similar grille painted black but earlier model, I wouldn't worry about the paint chipping, if the paint is going to come off, lacquer wouldn't really help.

Holiday chicken..is the black one yours? Nice front end..im thinking if getting rid of the old square grill and that one actually works well..i presume you have altered the traditional lights as well? ..

Yes that is my one, i painted the side lights in Java black, the same with the grille, painted the insides of the headlamps gloss black, added the halo rings.
That's about it, I contemplated the 2012 facelift for a while but thought i would spend the cash on the mechanicals and just try and make the front end look less severe.
This guy was my inspiration but he didn't go as far as the sidelights, the other option with the side lights would be to cut them open and do away with the orange reflector and paint the inside black instead or some people add the fly eye film to both headlights and side lights .

Thanks, It wasn't too much to do and as you say it stopped it having the big cheesy grin that it had before.
The DRLs are Morimoto and i got them from a guy called Trups at EM Tuning as they are a uk distributor (just realised you are not in the uk) for them so saves you buying direct from the states. I have LED sidelights also that help and have the Osram night breaker main beam and standard xenon dipped.
The head lights are easy to take apart when you know how Smile
Might have to do an L405 conversion next .....

Thanks very much, i had to paint the headlight wipers as well, I quite like the old style shape as you can still trace a bit of land rover breeding but I wanted to lose some of the lines that made it look very square.
The main difference with the newer ones is the way the grille overlaps the headlight and drops into the front bumper and i really don't like the grilles that try and over lap the headlight but then make the headlight wipers crooked.
i am not saying i wouldn't own an L405 if somebody has one they don't want ..
