It's Bought

Hi Folks, I originally posted a couple of weeks ago asking about "Longevity" of newer Rang Rovers and the fact we had a '57 tdv8 vogue lovely example come in as a part exchange at the independent used car garage I work at. ANYWAY, I bought it, much to the Mrs annoyance I may add!.....too many cars in the household apparently. Rolling with laughter

I sold these cars new many years ago and owning one know is such a blast, marred a little by the mrs, but non the less its a fantastic car.

Rear camera is rubbish and the FBH doesn't work, but I've read some of the posts on here and feel confident I can get them sorted.

What a car. What a fuel bill I'm going to face!....I'm a gentle driver yet it's computer tells me 20.9mpg Big Cry

I was hoping for at least 25+ taking into account my driving style. My commute to work is 11 miles of a lot of up ad down hills, but does this still seems excessive mpg???

Adrian

I had one of those pretty much identical 2007, TDV8, 3.6 Diesel I used to get 30mpg or more. Current car is a different story 20mpg very rare - I seem to be forever at Tesco's Censored nuisance. Very Happy Geoff

Wasn't totally unnecessary as I edited my post to include "click" as an option after reading yours I normally just hover (as in life as I never seem to click!) Geoff

I commuted Chorley to Bolton (about 15 miles) and definitely got well over 25mpg. When it did drop it was because one of my rear calipers was sticking (you get a hot wheel) - worth checking.

JFYI am getting 17mpg just tootling about in the 5.0L SC Very Happy Geoff

I drive the 4.4 petrol, fortunately I do low mileage coupled with the fact I drive a diesel van all week and the fact I have always said I will never own a diesel car I find it amusing when mpg figures come up on forums. These motors are not cheap, neither the tax, insurance or maintenance.Depending on age cost is ridiculous and depreciation is a fortune. What I am trying to say unless your mileage is similar to 'captain kirks' you may as well get the petrol even if you pay more for fuel in the big picture it really is not much difference.Ps I get 16mpg around home and we have hills here and can clock 25mpg on a run .

'56 plate 3.6 TDV8 117k. Seem to get 27.8 mpg on the trip virtually everywhere I go...except long motorway runs where I get 28.8 mpg. Mostly driving around the Lincolnshire Wolds. Next year I will get a remap to 'further improve mpg' *ahem* ☺

I do wish you British would just say the model year, not the indecipherable (to us foreigners) 56 or 57 plate. Ron B. VK2OTC

The '5 ' denotes which half of the year...the latter...currently the '6' now does this job owing to the fact we are into the teens now...confusing? Yes..

Sounds like my mpg is particularly low then!

It's definitely not a sticking caliper and there are no fault codes etc so is there anything else I could check to see if it's causing a problem! Would need to be something fairly big to loose 7 mpg on average.
