Full Fat or Sport 50k to spend

Hi guys,

Not been about for a while but thought I would put the question out there. I can not stand it anymore I think I may blow my brains out. I have around 50k to spend on a motor which gets me either a 14 plate HSE sport or a 13 plate Vogue both with 50k on the clock. My brain tells me Sport my heart tells me Full Fat.

Does anyone know what the likely residuals will be on 12k miles a year for either car over 3 years.
If i buy from a dealer/private can I add LR main dealer extended warranties subject to correct servicing etc or should I choose another warranty or stick to a main dealer purchase?
Anything else I should think about?
Fuel is not a worry as long as it's diesel.

Cheers,
Matt

PS looking to off load a 2011 Vogue with 86k miles and full LR history any ideas on value?

Having had both - I'd go for the Vogue

You'll probably enjoy the Sports drive and handling over the Vogue, although the FFRR is no slouch. However when your at the traffic lights and a Vogue pulls up next to you you'll probably wish you'd bought the Vogue Wink

Vogue every time. The Sport is cramped inside and doesn't feel like a Range Rover. The Vogue still feels bigger than a Cathedral inside and has a better ride quality, assuming you stick with 20 or 21 inch wheels. IMHO the 22's ruin the ride quality.

Vogue - The Sport looks like a computer mesh of an Evoque and FF, whereas the FF looks like it's been designed

405 any day.

I though you had to have long blond hair massive sunglasses (even in the rain) and a small kid in the back to drive a sport. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Sport every day. Looks like an Evoque so you will go unnoticed, creased leather seats that will drive you mad and a rear end like a squashed frog!. Twisted Evil

Just to even things up a little.

So reading between the line what I think you are saying is get a Vogue you big girls blouse!!

So I'm looking at a 63 plate Vogue with 49k miles £50k and will be doing 12k a year over 3 year and the GFR is 22k does that seem right?

I change every year and twice now I've considered the sport and gone for the 405 each time. Went in the showroom last week to view the Disco 5 and whilst there checked them out again and now I can say that I'll stick with 405 unless something better comes along. It's been said here before but when you pull up at the lights and look DOWN at the Sport next to you; you can satisfy yourself with a little knowing smile while the guy in the Sport wishes he'd spent a bit more and done the job properly.

My last bit of advice is to buy from Land Rover and you'll get two years LR warranty (and I've always found them competitive if you are willing to travel) and the biggest gem is to stretch a tiny bit further and buy a VSE L405. I've had three 405s (2 vse and 1 AB) and the VSE is the sweet spot of the range and second hand the premium over a Vogue is negligible. Thumbs Up

Sport is a bit more pert, possibly a bit more twee and there are more of them on the roads.

Looking at the predecessors of both, the FF will hold its value more so I suppose you need to think about what your priorities are.

Personally I love the new Sport as it's more nimble and less barge like, although I'm not sure of its load carrying ability which would be a determining factor for me. In comparison the FF is unnecessarily long but it will of course always be THE Range Rover so it depends a) how much money you have, b) what your personal circumstances are and c) whether looking down at the traffic lights really matters!

I considered the L405 when buying my L322 but I decided to continue with the 322 because of great value, more traditional looks and the bigger boot. I've also heard that the new generation models have even worse reliability and quality issues than mine, so I would have to agree that you would need the warranty whatever your choice although I really don't like using dealers which is another reason why I always buy my vehicles privately...

Well I made enquiries on three cars last night only to be told today that they are all sold, I do feel for the dealers this time of year Laughing . The search continues and the 'man maths' spread sheet gets bigger, I've convinced myself that by spending more money I will save myself money in the long term this I call 'wishful thinking maths' Very Happy

Never had a single problem with my L405. Very good car indeed. I wouldn't go back to L322.
I had a Sport in between, it's been reliable too but it didn't float my boat.
Get a proper Range Rover, not a Sport.

JLR builds the Sport, which is a very nice car to compete with cars cheaper than the FFRR. If you can get an FFRR at the same price, go for it. Do you really need the extra 1% performance from the Sport. If you do, I recommend getting s proper sports car and not a Land Rover at all.
