The idea has been around for years, had a go at doing a Ford van some years ago, you can run a diesel on 20% lpg into the incoming air, if driven normally it will reduce the amount of diesel you use but by less than 20%... or, put your foot down and you get extra performance...

The problem is trying to get the mix just right, too little and nothing happens, too much and you will damage the engine...

It really isn't worth doing unless you are doing starship milage as the payback time is very high...

We ran the van with it for several years and it ran fine but the cost saving was a few pounds a month.... Thumbs Up Pete

I had a diesel Hymer motorhome fitted with LPG. You could feel the difference in performance when hitting the LPG button.
On a motorhome the very slight power increaae was beneficial when on inclines or through the mountains. Also ran slightly smoother when LPG switched on.

Main benefit for me, living in putney, London, and it being a 1994 vehicle was i could use it in theLondon low emission zone due to it being registered as an dual fuel vehicle so exempt from the rules. Thumbs Up

the modern day diesel conversion retard the diesel flow and use a knock sensor to adapt the LPG input giving a cleaner burn, however as said above the saving's is minimal, unless you need a dual fuel exemption or do 1000's of miles a week simply not worth converting, I guess if it reduce's the london congestion charge on a daily basis things would add up rather quickly
