Paint loss on the final exhaust box below the boot is an issue with all L322's as far as I can see with most leaving unsightly patches of silver where the black paint flakes away.

Solution is to use a Brillo pad or equivalent to remove any excess paint, wash the area thoroughly with soapy water, degrease with white vinegar, mask the brakes, wheels and suspension with tape and newspaper and then apply a good quality heat proof paint. I used a high quality aerosol for woodburners as Halfords no longer sell heat proof engine or exhaust paint.

I hope you will agree that the end result is better for it and this finish will last for years.

Tow bar and motorbike carrier hides most of mine what can be seen dirt covers it,

doesn't even have to be heat proof paint I had a old bmw that needed to be cleaned up painted exhaust box in black masonary paint guy works for me bought it 4 years on still looks clean !

I did the wire brushing, steel wool, sand paper, degreasing OCD approach and used matt high heat paint...

Then the year after that, I tried lazy Stan's method and Halfords satin spray can.

Guess which one looked and lasted better?!?!
