Can anyone point me in the right direction for fixing a 02 4.4 with no throttle response?

I did a search and only found cars with occasional problems. This car starts and ticks over, but pressing the accelerator has no effect at all.

I read in this forum that the accelerator is only a variable switch, so I was going to remove and test this first. It there a way to rev the engine from inside the engine bay i.e. via the throttle body to eliminate other issues?

Any other tips or hints would be gratefully received. Current:

It will be the pedal or the throttle body, first thing to do is clean and check security of the plugs to both, you cannot dismantle them at all.

You can't rev the engine without them both talking to each other.

Ideally you need a diagnostic tool which will give you live values and tell you which one isn't working, if not then you have a 50/50 chance, I'd guess the throttle body is the suspect as it is far more complex and is in a nastier environment but they are rather expensive to be changing just because you think it's faulty..

As with all things FF, you need an IID or similar or you will spend a fortune changing parts....  Pete
