CTEK charger question

Anyone got one that can confirm below..

The 12v plug in part of mine has left the red plastic collar in the 12v socket in my boot where I keep it charged,

Can any tell me if I need this red plastic piece or can it be used without it?

Battery was a bit sluggish this morning and I'm wondering if where this red plastic piece is lodged in the 12v socket if it is depressing anything in the 12v socket and causing a drain?

I think the red collar is so the plug can be used on more than one type of socket e.g. standard cigar lighter and 'NATO' type socket which is a lot smaller. It shouldn't cause any drain if left in because the collar is plastic (non-conductive) and the rear socket is permanently live anyway.

The red collar converts between. Din and cigarette lighter plug, so without it you have a Din plug.

So yes you need to retrieve the plug, I assume you have tried plug it back in and hoping the red collar comes out.

Ok thanks,

Retrieved the red piece now, but each time I put in/ take out it leaves the red bit in there, wondering if a bit of glue might keep it in place?
