Free under LR warranty or if you're friendly with your dealer. Otherwise I guess it would be chargeable.

I'm new to Range Rovers, and the dealer, so let's see how much they want to keep me sweet.

Cheers

Well the dealer told me the Battery Control System was fitted after the original build and there were no system updates outstanding. They couldn't however tell me when it was fitted!!
I contacted Landrover and they confirmed it was fitted in 2012 and there are no outstanding updates.
I am not convinced at all that it is the alternator as, on the 753 menu, it has consistently read 13.5v when running and 12.5v when switched off, and the warning only appeared after fitting the new AGM battery (although it did take a week to appear)
I have a couple of questions for which any help would be gratefully received:

Would a hard reset get rid of the message?

The dealer has told me the following would reset the Battery Control System:
Run for 30mins
Turn off and leave for 4 hrs
Run for 30 mins
Turn off and leave for 4 hrs
Run for 30mins

Has anybody got any experience of this procedure?

many thanks

Hi,
Thought I should give an update - it was a faulty alternator.
It failed totally on Sunday just as I parked up at the supermarket. The good news is that I have RAC cover including parts & labour.
I didn't think for a minute that they would cover an alternator, but they did. From breaking down at Midday on Sunday I picked up the car today, fully repaired.
The cover pays out up to £750 per claim and up to 5 claims per year. I signed up via Quidco for breakdown and just about every extra going and got a £80 cashback on a £210 spend, so in effect the cover was almost free as it's approx £90 normally.
From my experience I would thoroughly recommend it, especially if you sign up through a cash back site.
Thank you to everybody who gave me advice previously.

pretty sure that diagnosis was given early on....... Whistle

Anyhow, glad its sorted for peanuts and you are up and running again. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up its a pig of a job to DIY and you would be looking best part of £600-800 at an indy so you probably came in just under the claim threshold! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It did look from the start as if it was the alternator but it wasn't throwing any lights and the voltage seemed fine.
As it happened packing up totally was the best thing that could have happened. The garage charged £795 so cost me £45. It should have been less as they had the alternator at nearly £500!! I didn't kick up fuss as as I wasn't paying much myself and wanted them to get it sorted quickly.
Thanks for everybodies help.
