Battery drain issue after fitting tracker

Fitted tracker recently which works great.

On the first day I connected it about 2pm but when I went to start the Westie next morning at 8am, although everything lit up with the ignition, it just wouldn't turn the engine over. It wasn't completely drained but presumably enough for the car not to turn over. A quick jump from a spare battery and it was fine after a short run so can't have been that bad.

Having asked Pete (Haylands) if he had the same problem he said his have sat for weeks and not drained the battery. Confused

I need it wired in to a permanent live and it is drawing about 130mA current which I wouldn't have thought would have drained such a huge battery hardly at all, let alone in the space of 18hours. Shocked

Any thoughts? 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Hadn't thought of that. How can I tell?

Will it make a difference which fuse i have piggy backed off. I used one of the trailer fuses as I don't have a towbar or trailer electrics? 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Just try running a wire direct to the battery, could even go outside to get it there for now, see how that works... Thumbs Up Pete

Thanks Pete Thumbs Up

Would wiring it direct to the big red cable that comes into the rear fuse box be the same, as I assume this comes direct from the battery?

Does 130mA sound about right for current? 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Update.....

Wired tracker directly to main cable in rear fuse box yesterday. Got in this afternoon after parked on the drive for 24hrs and everything was fine and dandy, no different from any other day, and it turned over and started without any issues. Thumbs Up

So, as suggested, piggy backing off another fuse may have confused my Westie into thinking it had to stay "awake" for something. Hopefully all will be fine from now on although I do have a fully charged battery on standby for the morning if it all goes horribly wrong tonight. Fingers crossed. Whistle

Next job, dashcams...... Rolling Eyes

Thanks guys Bow down 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Rob, the big red wire in the boot comes to the back via a 100amp fuse at the front, fuses are used to protect the wiring, nothing runs off it until it is split up in the rear fuse box, just to let you know... Thumbs Up Pete
