Tyre Question

Hi guys a silly question really.

My Full Fat late 2006 4.2SC currently has tyres fitted that are 255/50/20 but all the tyre search sites say that from my reg tat the size is 275/40/20 anyone know the correct size?

Need 4 new ones so might as well get the right ones.

The 255 50 20s are the OEM spec for all 20 inch wheels on the L322s.

Some are fitting the 255 55 20s from the 405 models and seem happy to get a bit more cushioning.

All other sizes are not OEM spec, but can still work as long as you don't go too wide for the steering lock.

Range Rover Sports had wider tyres but their alloys are wider too. Tom

Thanks I will stick with whats OEM just makes things easier, must be these websites confusing the reg for some reason or have the wrong backend data.

Been doing some reading and looks like lots of you folks have gone for 275/40/20's instead of the standard 255/50/20 keeping almost the same rolling distance.

So I think I might go this way, but which tyre? Lots of folks on grabber at3's but to be honest my range rover does not see a lot of mud its 99% tarmac so looking really for a good road tyre?

Budget is not a problem when I bought the full fat last year the dealer had put 4 of some make I have never heard of tyres on it to get it an MOT and now they all really need replacing.

Vredestein anybody?

OK, I know that tyres have been done to death already, and most seem to favour the OEM Scorpions. Mine are due to be changed soon, and I do find them noisy. Does anyone have experience of the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta which are well reviewed here;
