Have you been out in the snow in your FFRR??

I drove home last night and the roads were very icy and snow covered, no gritters near here!

All was fine at steady speeds except for the last left turn into my village, the whole thing went sideways across the road. I was going slowly so no need to panic and no other cars, just some opposite lock and gentle acceleration to get it back. Even slow speed parking seems to make it slide about when braking.

What it does highlight though is we are NOT immortal in our FFRR, we have way more weight going into a turn than most cars and despite it being the best 4wd on earth, it can still slide down the road like a ice cube. Once it gets going, it's a Censored to stop!

Anyone been using the Dynamic response Ice/Snow setting? Does it work?

I find driving the RangeRover on icy road is even more scarier than conventional two wheel drive saloon .

On the way to my company this morning, which is located in the industrial estate, the roads were un gritted, I virtually had to slow to a stop before turning left Shocked The road itself is on a very slight slope, a couple of the staff actually skidded towards the kerb turning left into the same road....

I was driving up to Birmingham today and thinking of all the cars to be in i couldn't be in anything better.

Anyway, got into Birmingham and left an A Road for a side street. I proceeded down the road with caution touched the brakes car took a while to stop and could feel the ABS but car took ages to stop which alarmed me. Anyway car was stationary and then just started to slide about 20 yards towards a kerb and i felt like a passenger on a trip i didnt want to make and managed to turn the wheel inwards to stop me kerbing the wheels. Luckily all ok until i then see some knobend in a Transit think it was a slalom course and he just missed me. Then another car stopped next to me and when he went to manouvre away again, his car started sliding towards mine. I was feeling vunerable to a prang. I was surprised how difficult the conditions are even for a ffrr and it was a useful reminder that the conditions can bite you and not to feel to secure Exclamation

It is funny though sliding sideways in such a big car

After Birmingham went to Staffordshire then back home and trip was great in the ffrr God i love this car Thumbs Up

i wonder how many people also wished they had one today ?

Just because we're driving a 4x4, it does not mean we're invincible, especially if your on ICE !!!

I was driving my FFRR today, and can quite honestly say it is the best vehicle for the job!

I witnessed countless 2wd saloons wheelspinning uncontrollably and getting stuck on the hill near my office - not to mention an articulated tractor unit & trailer sliding backwards down the hill... The RR made light work of the treacherous conditions, but it pays to bear in mind that "point and press" driving is not the style to adopt - regardless of electronic assistance and gadgetry. I am a strong believer that human input (see error), is probably the major contributing factor in accidents in these conditions, so caution and defensive driving should still be exercised - remember you get out what you put in.

Therefore sh Censored t in = sh Censored t out!!!

Play safe all! Wink
