My New Toy!!

Well my ffrr went to another home last week and I was a bit lost....So I've just got this Very Happy

It allegedly has a 4" lift, I can see that there is a 2" body lift, I have yet to crawl underneath and comfirm the other 2" ! Have discovered that it's sporting Aeroquip Brake lines, and the not only came with diving capability, it also has a winch bumper... and I keep on falling over a winch in my shed Rolling Eyes must do something about that Rolling Eyes

In true Range Rover style it was all over the road Laughing So I think that there will be some new balljoints in the offing Wink

And just to remind me that it was a Range Rover, it wouldn't let me in Evil or Very Mad So I had to climb over from the passenger side... after the second time I thought "Sod that for a game" and called in to see some pals on my way home...2 hours later both the door handles working again.. it turned out to be a stretched road on the internal handle that was messing up the whole lock Rolling Eyes

And the biggest surprise is it has a 2.4VM diesel lump, and it pulls like a train Shocked I wasn't expecting that... but it is sporting a new Turbo and there is a boost gauge in the dash....so I think it might have been tweaked Wink Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

I have got a full Workshop Manual and parts catalogue you can have if you want them.

Keep a close eye on the coolant level.
The VM engine was notorious for blowing cylinder head gaskets, but not too difficult to change.
I did both heads on mine. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999
V reg 2.5td P38 Rioja red 1999- 2006
53 reg td6 Vogue Oslo blue 2006- 2015
11 reg 4.4 TdV8 Vogue SE. Baltic blue 2015- date.

KurtVerbose yours might newer, but mine can be fixed with a bent screwdriver and some bailing twine (posh farmers string)

And Yes being a Range Rover it isn't without it's gremlins... the tacho doesn't work, but there is a white wire hanging off the alternator... The drivers door wouldn't open and now the passenger door only locks manually Whistle if it's not one side it's the other Evil or Very Mad I know that I have a brake light out, and I have yet to test anything else electrical... after all it started, moved... I think it is a sign of getting old, but I remember every job I did on my VM , but I struggle to find my glasses today !!!
The rev counter 100% definitely gets its feed from the single white wire out of the alternator.

And yes I should have said all 4 on mine.

Whistle V8 Power is fabulous provided that there is actually power to start with... BL (LR) had perfected the art of taking an engine from a different manufacturer and tuning negative gains in to it... I believe that the Buick version of the V8 was closer to 250 HP, by the time BL had finished with it 120 - 167 HP depending on how much tinkering they had done Sad

And having had 2 V8 RRC's I think for low end grunt the dersal is hard to beat.... all HP gives you is top speed, it's torque that matters, cos without it you ain't going anywhere fast Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
