Fuel burning heater.....

So I've seen loads of threads on here about them and it's obviously a very common thing to give grief...
Mine, as do most it would seem, smokes like Censored occasionally and I find it quite embarrassing. This week in the drive through queue for instance, I was actaully asked if my car was on fire Laughing

Every thread I've read regarding smoking FBH's gets the reply that it's totally normal and nothing to worry about.... but they shouldn't smoke, they didn't when new for instance. So why do they do it and has anybody cured it...?? If it's not going to cost me a small mortgage to rectify then I'll certainly do it, just to avoid the embarrassment again... Laughing

Or.... something I thought of earlier.... would simply pulling out the fuse cause any harm... I'm sure I can do without it, no other car I've owned has had one anyway...

Cheers guys,
Matt.

They come on to speed heat the interior so it'll take a while to heat up if you pull the fuse. They tend to smoke because they don't get a lot of use
So carbon up a bit. I would put a battery charger on it and run the fbh a couple of full cycles if you have a remote or stick it on manual.

It's been cold alot lately so it's been kicking in every morning, and smokes everytime Big Cry

I've read that later models have a remote but my car is only a 2004 so doesn't have one, and I've not seen anyway of manually turning it on... it just seems to fire up when around 3 degrees outside.

I think there is a timed climate setting in the dash display. So you can use it when parked and not have the engine running. You can also set a time for it to come on. 2018 L405 Autobiograpghy

I think so. Have a play with it. Should have two time settings. But if the engine is not run in a 24 hour period it won't work. Saves to battery going flat 2018 L405 Autobiograpghy

I'll give it a whirl at the weekend and see how it goes... is it worth running some injector cleaner through the fuel tank do you think ???

Aux ventilation is for hot weather.

The option you want to use on your screen is the aux heating I believe?

If it's not there then it can be enabled using IID or similar.

MW Car history includes: LR Series 3, RR Classic x 4, LR 101, Discovery 1 and 2 and now FFRR.
