Power box

Has someone already have instaled a power box to td6?
It's worth it? Or a remap is better? Here, a home made power box is 30€ and a ramap is 200/300€.
I know that to connect the power box is on the fuel line (common rail) connector which is on the back of the engine.
I've tried to reach it but, without success. There is so trick or special procedure?

Hi

Any of those power boxes are a waste of time and money, they don't really work and at best they trick the engine into over fuelling and giving no more power, anything you feel will be in your head.

If you want an actual torque and power increase the only real way to do it is with a remap by a good company and someone that understand those engines.

Personally any plug in black box is a no no.

I had a Austrian (I think) power box on my td6 and it did improve things slightly, wth better pulling and improved mpg by 2-3 mpg. Think it was called a steuer or something similar.

No I was very sceptical to start with but did a proper tank to tank mpg calc and it went from 25 mpg to 28 and deffo had a better pulling capability.

Not sure how they did it but The proof is in the pudding so they say. Thumbs Up

They do work and are proven to work but they are bloody awful devices , as stated all they do is trick the ECU into overfueling usually with nothing more sophisticated than a simple resistor , you get an increase in power along with an increase in soot , fumes and engine wear .
Get a remap there are plenty of good ones out there and Power boxes are for plumbers in smoking Hilux's who think they can beat a Porsche off at the lights(oh erh ) Rolling with laughter 2008 MY Supercharged
