Saw that Stan, very unlucky. The avalanche was set off by skiers higher up on the slope. The boarders who were killed were yards from the top of the lift walking. Very sad.

Cheers Jord, would be good to know how it looks before we set off! Will be there the Easter week, which is. The same week as we were there last year it's just Easter is late this time!! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Anyone remember when we used to get enough snow to ski every year just about anywhere in Britain? We had snow where I am on Saturday, but there was barely enough for a snowball. QUID FACIUM TIBI

Yes. I remember frost fairs on the Thames.

My cousin went on a school skiing trip many years ago and broke his leg quite badly. I dont know if such a thing is less likely nowadays, but the slopes can obviously be dangerous places...... QUID FACIUM TIBI

Ski-ing can indeed be dangerous, but so is crossing the road...... Its all about ski-ing within your abilities and in accordance with the conditions. I've skied for 40 years (I learned as a 13 year old on a school trip) and know when to go for it and when to keep it steady; sadly too many people seem not to be able to make those judgements and either cause accidents hurting others or hurt themselves. Some of the behaviour I've seen this week has been shocking.

A friend of mine visited and we went skiing. He skied literally no more than 10 metres before falling over and breaking his leg. He'd barely got off the lift. Fortunately not a bad break.

I've skied for 12 years and only broken a toe nail, but I should have cut the nail before putting on the tight boot.

There are plenty of drunks and idiots to avoid though.

Most of the crashes I've had have been on easy blue runs at the end of the day when you're tired and not concentrating.

Last year I bought a new set of skis, so am looking forwards to giving them a good run out in April, however I just found my old set of Salomon S9000 from 1993!, they had been cannibalised and had some Marker bindings fitted, but i remembered that my old man was the culprit, so located his not quite as old set of skis with the right S957 Equipe bindings on them. Swapped them over and now have the right skis with the right bindings.

So they can go on the roof with the new carving skis and i can truly see how much gear has changed over the years! I don't plan on more than a couple of runs on the old skis but it will be interesting as they are basically planks with no sidecut, I remember them being great, but the reality is likely to be different!!!!!

fingers crossed for no broken bones. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Not saying that's a bit excessive Alistair...... but....

Just dug my ski racks out of the garage, had forgotten i had them as they came free with a set of sports bars! Found them and the key too Very Happy

Gaz that seems to be the way of the disco, have used mine for several trips to Le Mans without trouble at all, the Old FF created trouble on every trip, even if serviced first and given a good going over. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

My trip was uneventful, a big relief after the fuel pump issues in January. I was still crossing my fingers each time I hit the start button though!

The FF is brilliant on these trips. 4 up with kit and it was no effort at all. Fit my Thule wing bars with ski carrier in resort to make shuttling around easier, boots, helmets, poles and jackets in the boot, skis on top. Not quite uo to Alastair's level on kit carrying. Always fancied a crack at ski biking though!

Ski biking is fun, but I'd always rather be boarding or skiing - we only really used them on the whiteout days

I didn't really take to it - I've sold one of them, the other is still for sale Whistle

No roof bars for the L405 (unless you fir permanent rails) but fortunately the centre seat folds down so you can still get a good bit of kit in there Thumbs Up
