Does anybody work for the office of national statistics?

Talking to a mate who owns a mid 50's series IIA Army Ambulance conversion recently we were discussing how Rolls-Royce claim that a high percentage (cant remember exactly how many) of all of their Rollers ever made are still in a roadworthy condition. Looking at the number of vehicles that you come across, the thought struck that LR must also have a decent percentage - at least when compared to other major manufacturers. Anybody got any figures? QUID FACIUM TIBI

ONS wouldn't have stats on this, but DVLA or whatever they're called now, would.

No doubt Roll Royces are well put together, but they generally lead far easier lives than Land Rovers.

I did hear recently that 80% of all Land Rovers ever made were still on the road.

The other 20% actually made it home.... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

The other 20% are on the back of AA recovery trucks

Remember the times when a lot of AA patrol vehicles were LR's. My fathers broken down Viva was towed (on a trailer) back from south Wales behind a series of different vehicles and we ended up behind an old series II in 1972. It took nearly 24 hours as the drivers could only take us from one AA base to the next in relay swapping at each base. QUID FACIUM TIBI
