Reversing Camera - Black Screen of death

Seen quite a few posts about the reversing camera going kaput and a great write up in the WIKI for replacing it. But I think these were on earlier L322 models. Mine is a 2010MY.

Screen just goes black when car is in reverse. Checked the fuse, which is fine. Tried the 753 hack and TV/DVD works fine, but reverse cam still has a black screen. Can anyone advise next steps please, Battery reset? IID check? Remove the spoiler and hit the camera with a large hammer? Very Happy

Cheers,

Noticed that the camera's on a couple of loan cars I've had (Ewok, Disco Sport) are alot better as well. Decided to give the old girl a bit of a spruce up before investigating further Very Happy

Whistle unfortunately the Range Rover was the flagship in the line up, and it got all the toys long before the rest of the range did.. so the ffrr is a fault finding exercise for the rest of the LR product range... unfortunately LR have a strange philosophy.. if it ain't broke don't fix it... if it is broke fix begrudgingly.. and if it can be improved, save it for another model Laughing Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Right, checked the camera via the 753 hack and it seems to be defaulting to PAL. When I change to NTSC and go back to the menu and back in again, it defaults back to PAL. Grrr.... Connected up the IID BT and can get to the menu where it says a rear camera is fitted, but not to any meaningful screen where I could change the setting.

Does anyone know if it is possible to config the rear camera with the IID or change the setting via the 753 hack? Confused

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up SDV8 AB MY 2019

Has the camera been changed at some time? It should be NTSC only, not NTSC/PAL or PAL. The symptoms you are describing with the 753 hack when trying to change to NTSC are similar to what happens when an NTSC/PAL or PAL camera have been installed. John

Shocked Pal Shocked

Maybe it's a post 2009 thing.. and LR have upgraded the camera to pal Rolling Eyes

Anyway I suspect that they haven't improved the build quality so it's more than likely full of water sand sporting a broken PCB... if the car wants pal who are we to argue.. either way they can be had for as little as a tenner on the bay of fleas.. assuming that your up for a little modding Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Very Happy
The new one needs to be NTSC. For some strange (read "daft") reason, when you try the 753 hack it goes, as you say, to PAL although a PAL camera doesn't work.

Must be the way the software was written. Possibly for a different use/vehicle. Confused John

Rolling Eyes I have lost the will to search, having waded through pages of Russian Microcat I now know that there was a change of camera at 6A216969.. but I suspect that was a mounting change.. and then you get to the 2010 section and the Censored 's have changed the part numbers completely Banging Head Banging Head

NTSC was the standard throughout the earlier cars so I think I'd possibly try one of those first.. You Are the Guinea Pig Shocked Laughing Laughing

Worst case you'll have to get a Pal camera too... but they there are a lot of owners on here with pre 2010 cars that might want a spare Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
