Mentioned it to my LR dealer today when I called in and was told it's going to start from £45k

And by the time you've added the optional steering wheel, doors, seats and engine it'll come to 60k Thumbs Up

It's be more to the point if they would get new Defender launched.

OK, saw this on the way home last night. Clearly the Velar and in terms of size it's pretty similar to the Jaguar F-Pace. I like the way the roof doesn't look like it's had a skip dropped on it as well. If the inside looks as nice I would suggest this might be a decent motor.

Sadly the camo doesn't help photos but in the crawling traffic last night I did get a good view of the body lines and I like it from what I've see so far.

I know I know I'm the good news bear but I can't help but wonder how people actually 'afford' these cars:

£45k upwards is a lot of money.

Invariably on the knock. I have Client who could afford a new fatty every year in cash - hes a very wealthy man. But even he has some form of finance for tax reasons which escape me.

I think he is the exception. I would venture most folk have them on personal fiance because the cash simply ain't there to buy one outright - but hey at least they look the part. (till their the company goes bust - seen that too many times as well). I also have clients with big flash cars that live in completed dog-kennels which i cant understand either.

This velar will be as popular as the Ewoke I have no doubt. Wait three years and pick one up for relative peanuts. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

I should really point out that I'm far from begrudging of the buyers. I was just sat in traffic today and noticed the amount of new cars vs older cars. Seems to have been an utter boom of new cars recently.

Looking forward to seeing the new model too and to be honest I love the Land Rover brand regardless of whether I'll ever sit in one of the new vehicles. Let alone own one.

Unnecessary quote removed

Those with the money use finance because you can leave the capital invested and pay the finance charges from revenue/income. That way you don't deplete your capital on something which depreciates, but use your income to drive in a nice car. You need the income to make the payments mind......

^ precisely. Nobody throws money into a depreciating asset, they mostly lease or PCP so they have known quantities to deal with. Also a lease is 100% attributable for tax whereas depreciating an asset over time requires shelling out the capital up front, i.e. lending the taxman money (in the eyes of an accountant.)

To be frank, the actual cash price of a new car is largely irrelevant these days, it's how much it costs to run on a PCP on a monthly basis. Yes, that does include those people who buy cars they could not otherwise afford and that goes right down the scale as far as the humble Fiat 500 which is advertised as being £135 a month on PCP. There are people on very low incomes driving new cars such as that, same principles, different scale.

I've eaten humble pie. Colleagues in India sent me some pictures of it and I like it, they spied it in the LR dealership in Mumbai. A quick question to a salesman was answered with "we expect a waiting list after the dealer launch tomorrow evening" and in India they're really expensive with taxes added. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Assuming the wheels are the same it has the same wheelbase as the F-Pace, very slightly shorter front overhang, and a marginally longer rear overhang.

All will be revealed in an hour or so.

Well, I was thinking of a RRS this year, chopping in the much loved L322. But I'll hang on a while and get one of these instead!

Bit shocked by the optional leather seats at £6,500!!!!

Although basic is £44k, top price is £84k before extras so full options could push to £100k. 2005 L322 Vogue Gold gone

A guy I work with is picking up a new Disco Sport on Saturday......... He's seething......

I have just gone through the configurator and it came out at £71063.00 and to be fair I wasn't going mad with options... Regards
