MY18 release date?

Hi guys

I'm new here. Have had 4 Sports over the years but am changing to a new L405.
I was pretty much about to put my order in last week when I saw some spy shots of the L405 for the MY18 with revised bumpers and lights. Also, possible engine changes.
I have no idea of the timescale though so does anyone know what month the next model year will be released?
On the basis that the Velar and Disco are currently available to order as MY18, I thought maybe I should wait?!

Hope someone can shed some light...

Cheers

Paul

It's usually about now I think they announce

There were numerous rumours and spy shots over a year ago with lots of talk about MY2017 being the change

For obvious reasons, there won't be more advance notice than the absolutely need to give.

In the past the new MY has been available from September. Not sure when ordering is available but Alistair is probably right regarding ordering. John

I'd wait for it, I think it will be a significant update.

I'm waiting for it too. I think it will be worth the wait, significant updates with a lot of the Velar technology going into the FFRR for MY18.

Just taken a first look at the tech on the velar. Much of it seems to be around the way in which you interact with the infotainment, rather than the infotainment itself (apart from the LED headlights which, I guess whilst trendy, I've never found myself driving along wishing for brighter headlights). In that regard, and likely just my OCD nature, the extra finger prints on the x2 screens and on the steering wheel buttons would drive me crazy Laughing

I heard today on good authority that the MY18 is delayed - release was going to be Dec / Jan but now Q1 is promised (so realistically Feb /.March.

The new straight six ingenium engines are due the end of the year - so I expect the Ford V8 and V6 will be ditched with the 2018 model.

That's a good point as i've never been a fan of touchscreen for the very reason of fingerprints.

Made obvious yesterday while driving home that i needed to change the dash display to Navigation as was struggling to view the Infotainment screen in sunlight with fingerprints on it. Nice that RR give you a special cloth to wipe the screen though, but i can see that becoming useless after a few clean ups.

Fit an iPad screensaver plastic film, otherwise fingerprints will wear away screen surface and become impossible to clean off.

I've ordered a V6 diesel Velar for Q4 but am now wondering if they will actually fit this? With rumours of a new straight 6 engine I'm not so sure.
Dealers don't know anything as yet about what is happening, I would prefer another 5.0 SC but there's no news on that either.

Bit of a thread drift OP but there's no Velar section.
