DPF Full Warning

I got the 'DPF Full - read handbook' warning over the weekend.

Did the 20 min run with revs at 2500 - 4000 (3 times!) and it finally cleared.

Actually though it hadn't as I was expecting the warning to go while the car was running. Thankfully it did when I came back to it after the third attempt.

Anyway ...

Is this just something which happens - I don't do many motorway miles, so the car is usually at low revs around town.

Or is there something else I should be looking into?

Hi all,

Had DPF full amber warning. Quickly changed to red - 'take to dealer'.

...and now I'm on limp mode. Making best speed I could get to try and clear it was 2500rpm for 2 x 45 min runs. Kept the box in 4th to keep the revs there. Wouldn't get over 60mph.

So the red warning prevents you from performing the clear out run....

Anyone experienced this? Cheers, Greg

to clear the dpf you dont have to have high revs, a steady 15-20 run at around 50mph should clear it.....maybe your high revs didnt help the process .. ... - .- -.

hmmm. thanks Stan. Well it was a good run to get the heat in the exhaust up... It's about temperature as I understand it.

Heading back to dealer tomorrow because even if I could get it to improve, I would've thought the engine mgmt system needs to be cleared now...

Any idea what the dealers to the "regenerate" it?

. Cheers, Greg

DPF

When I get warning DPF full, it work to drive up hill for some time, but in the winter time,is it not so easy. In winter time,I just buy from Wurth two spray can with DPF cleaner, dismantling nippel for presure sensor before DPF, spray in to DPF,putting back nippel and take a drive, then you see some smoke and after a few km is the light gone.
If going to a workshop, then some have washing system that they conect to DPF.

You can also start the regenerating, with a computer, that is also done by many workshop.

My understanding is that via the diagnostics, they can force a regeneration without needing to take the car on a run or rely on the car detecting the necessary conditions being present for regeneration to begin.

It is certainly hat way for Fords

Just take it for a good run every fortnight and don't be overly gentle and you should be ok , oh the joys of modern emission controls Confused

Yes it can be done but as the car is stationary, the garage uses a fan to keep the air flowing into the Rad. be easier to go for a wee drive tbh Current:

Never had a problem with mine, too busy keeping that second turbo spinning so I don't have clouds of smoke following me.....so the DPF is always clean!!!! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

NMJ,
Having the turbo drain mod done has transformed my driving style and love of my 4.4.
I was constantly aggressively driving trying to get the revs up to open up the 2nd turbo to blow out the smoke cloud.
I now drive relaxed and simply enjoy the power on tap when I need it.
I don't know which is best for the DPF but I do know that I don't regret for 1 minute the pleasure of driving I now enjoy.

Only had the cloud once, so I'm not sure that I could convince LR to do the mod, even though they had that turbo drain off last year I'm not convinced they would have done the mod when they reassembled it. So at the moment I'm unsure if it's been done or not...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
