Has anyone else noticed?

4.4 TDV8 prices seem to have hit the slides. Just looked at (a leggy) 2012 on AT for less than £20k and there are a few hovering there or thereabouts.
Is this the start of the "evil diesel" route we've been told to expect? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
Had- 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE in Java black
Had - 2007 S/C in Stornoway Grey

its the opposite on the LR approved site...prices have gone up by about £5k for 2012 years, ok they might be fairly low mileage examples [50k'ish] but even so thats a big increase.. ... - .- -.

There are some Westie's with similar mileage to mine from traders at a couple of grand less than I paid last June, so not unhappy about that considering depreciation generally (and some at more than I paid Shocked ).

The LR approved are certainly holding their price so there must be demand, probably because of the LR warranty. I could have bought a Westie last year privately for less money but wanted the comfort of a proper warranty.

I guess when you buy a depreciating asset (which to be fair means most cars) then you have to accept that the depreciation is the price of all that enjoyment. I'd much rather be sitting in a depreciating fattie than a depreciating Mondeo/Insignia/Toyota etc.

And I guess if you asked Mondeo man, he'd rather be sitting in a fattie Rolling with laughter 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Just checked and they have gone up putting the current purchase price slightly less than I paid in December 2015........thankfully, there are no L405's currently for sale that are catching my eye Whistle

I think it reflects the worry people have with buying a new diesel. Would take a brave man now to shell out 100k for a diesel car only to see its value fall to 20k in 3 years. So buy a 4.4 L322 instead....
Which is good news if you've got a 4.4 and want to get rid

I spent three months on the look. Nov, Dec and all of Jan and finally found my 2011 VSE - whilst mileage over 100k was not what I wanted ideally, on balance with all the options it had, I went for it - for 19995.

Was the first and only 4.4 under the 20k barrier I saw. But since then, only a month - I've seen three and under 100k miles - I'm still getting the email alerts from all the websites.

If you're flexible on colour (and mileage!) jump on in sub 20k! Beats a new hatchback right?
. Cheers, Greg

The very last of the 4.4 diesel L322's with sensible mileage on them (less than 100K) are desirable right now because they are the last ones which qualify for the 2 years genuine warranty as a LR Approved Used car. Everything else is now pretty much out of the main dealer network now hence why the prices are falling a bit. Once they hit 5 years old or 100k miles even the main dealers can't put the Approved Used package on the car and of course the focus now is more on working the L405 market where there are bigger margins.

That's expensive! There's one on there for £16989 currently with all the toys that I've been after...

I've seen them for less too. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

i hope this isn't a sign of the times, just spent 28k on a 2011 vse with 40,000 miles only!

been looking on and off for 2 years, and in that time i'd say there's been a drop of 3/4k in normal sales, increase of 4k/5k on the approved used!

mine looks cheap in comparison to the land rover used approved, but expensive against these high milers!!

My thoughts are, if you have bought a good car that you are really happy with and intend keeping for several years, then just enjoy it and don't worry about today's prices. It will be worth a lot less when you eventually decide to change it, but you will have hopefully enjoyed every mile. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

I'm delighted they are coming down, makes the man maths far easier in a few months when I start telling the boss it's a great time to move on.

You've got 40% of the mileage of mine. That's less everything. Less stone chips, less suspension wear less transmission wear. The seats are less worn. Everything is younger. So that's all worth a few grand I think.

Perhaps you got a warranty too? Also worth money.

I paid 19995 but my budget was 23k. If I could have got colour / spec combination I wanted with 80k miles I'd have paid nearer the 23k. If I saw one at 60k miles might have gone up to 24k.

Yours is 40k miles. Enjoy enjoy enjoy!

. Cheers, Greg

So mine is a 2012 vogue, iirc I paid 37k for it 2 years ago.

Still on about 45.000miles so by this man maths is probably worth IrO 28k so it's lost 10k in 2 years

Which is 5k per annum.

Which sounds about right! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
