2nd Car Opinions

Hi guys, I am looking at getting a second car and thought I would get some opinions to try and help me make my mind up. I love Range Rover but upgrading to a newer one is beyond my budget realistically hence I am looking at something different.

My ideal choice would be a Maserati Gran Turismo or Quattroporte but they are probably out of reach unless it's an older high mileage one.

Next in line are a BMW Z4 convertible or a Porsche Cayman and this is were I would like any opinions on either car or even an alternative. The Z4 will be cheaper all round for a newer model. The main downside is the 2 seats but I can manage that as I will have the RR and the wife has a car.

Other options are a BMW 6 series convertible or a Porsche Panamera, both of which will he me extra seats. The Panamera is probably in the same bracket as the Maserati in terms of age and mileage.

Any suggestions, experience or advice welcome 😁

Keith

I think you need to make your mind up if you want a barge, a coupe or a soft top first. Then do you want something that's frugal or fun.. Regards

With the floor open to all your different configurations, may I ask what your budget is? Si. <This is my name.

To answer the first question I am happy with either a convertible or a hard top. I do like bigger cars but as a second am happy to go for something smaller. I prefer something with more ooomph as well!

To answer the second question the budget is flexible to a degree, the less I spend the more I have to spend on a new car for the wife. At a stretch I could push towards £30K but ideally want to keep it lower. I can get a 2015 Z4 for a little over £20k but a Cayman is £25k plus.

What a decision you have to make...

So much choice and with £25-£30k to spend.

My vote is nothing like any of the ones you mention but here goes;

1. Escort Cosworth - will only increase in value but a nice one may take you over £30k
2. Subaru 22B - see above
3. Lancia Delta Integrale
4. BMW M635 CSi - if you must have a BMW

Need I go on Rolling with laughter Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

My wife said to me that I'd be happier with ten £5K cars than one £50k....... I thought it was brilliant but she got fed up when I was at 6..... Back to 3 now.....
My personal choice........

Barge - Audi S8 (V10)
Sports - AM V8

There is another option though...... which now that I think about it makes perfect sense...... Buy a 5Ltr SC... Does everything, Luxurious, comfortable, fast and surprisingly fun....... Very Happy Regards

Something else for you to consider...

A 2015 S550 5.0 Mustang.

But I do agree with Mark. A 5.0SC makes an awful lot of sense. Si. <This is my name.

just get a 911

its got 4 seats and that budget will get you a decent 997. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Im still undecided Shocked

I have looked at a 5.0 SC but if I am upgrading the RR I would want to go to an L405 but that is out of my price range.

I've looked at 911's but it would be quite a bit older and to be honest I prefer the look of the Cayman.

I didn't want to get anything to old but may have to review that.

Thinking about the 405 sc myself at the moment. But funds are not quite there yet! Could probably do on the never never but don't really like that idea.

If you want something fast, practical and good to drive, how about a golf R. Proper Q car there! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

For your budget I would be looking at a C63 AMG. Best of both worlds. Seems like you want something not that old and something that Isn't completely impractical either. This suits that as they can be had in 3 or 5 door. They are very fast and arguably one of the best sounding saloon cars ever... Thumbs Up Jordan
