4 seater convertible?

Cheap 4 seater convertible for the summer anyone any good ideas?

I have been thinking about getting a 4 seater convertible for the summer weekends, when it gets here!! Now there are a few obvious contenders, merc ckl, 3 series, Audi A4 etc

Are there any not so a virus ones I've misssed which won't cost a load to buy, looking at a budget of upto £7k so nothing too flashy in there methinks! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

We have a Saab 93 convertible SE turbo petrol, 2000, a later model one could be an option, I like underdog cars, only use it in the summer Wink Regards

Volvo C70 - the gangsters tend to avoid them as they have no street cred whatsoever but they have a metal folding roof and for £7k you will get a very nice low miles example - there are a few about but just dont expect anyone to ever notice you in one.

Well - I have some form here Wink

Saabs are good - the early ones (pre 03) more "pure" but do have their issues with engines sludging and dying, and cracked bulkheads.
Later ones a bit more modern but from the GM period so a bit plasticky inside. Autoboxes not the strongest, can suffer balance shaft failure. Drive well, eminently tunable, quite torque-steery.
A4's - in my opinion the best shape but can have a bit of an odd buyer profile, can be thrashed, autoboxes rubbish and they can eat turbos (and engines).
Mercedes CLK - later ones more rot-resistant. Needs to be unabused and serviced up very well. Autoboxes if not oil changed and rust is the thing.

We currently have a c70. 2008 model. Quirky choice. We like it a lot, even went for bright (solid) red. Heavy on things like hubs/wishbones/driveshafts, it a Focus platform. Made a cockup - and went for the 2.4i non turbo. Big cockup, if it had been a turbo'd one I'd be far happier. Drives very much like a car (ie not a ragtop) with the brilliant roof up. No scutttle shake with the roof down. Feels very safe and I think the shape is quite nice. Autobox very good. Parts can be expensive unless from the platform share where independent factors come in. Madam is 50% in it, 50% in the FFRR. Boot space you initially think is ludicrous. Not so much - when you "click" with it, works very well as a daily. Just for reference, our youngest is 15 yrs old now Wink 2007 Vogue TDV8 with 255/55/20's fitted

Whistle Didn't BMW make a 3 series rag top?... and then there is the Golf, and while you're there the was the Escort, Focus... if you want to stay British.... Triumph Herald / Vitesse, Stag, Jaguar XJS if 2 are small and then XJ6 convertible.. Vauxhall Ashtray, the list is endless. Just about every Convertible from the US with the exception of the Corvette was a 4 seater.

Peugeot made them, Citroen, Renault..even Mini!! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

This is a nice car for the money:

SWMBO had a Saab 95 rag before the current 645ci rag and TBH the roof mechanism was not the most reliable.

The VW looks cool IMO. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus
