Engine warning on dash

The other day I had a very brief message accompanied by a bong of death sound, because it was only on for about a second I can't quite remember the exact message,it went something like ...engine ***** fault ....Is there a list perhaps of messages you may see on the dash or are there lots of different messages that can be displayed? It's a 2009 3.6 by the way and has been very reliable in my 18 months ownership. Or am I being paranoid about the brief message lol. 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver

mine used to do that........

then a few months later the turbo hose split. Cheap and easy to do there is a how to temp repair i wrote in the wiki, take the passenger side one off, takes 5 mins, and check it under the webbing to see if its started to split. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Most likely.Engine system fault, you need the codes read to identify the possible cause...
Hopefully something simple. Although...

I'm hoping it's a false alarm has it only came on for a second or two,I've already changed the top turbo hoses a few months ago. Fingers crossed Bow down 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver

Did the message flash up when you startd the car or whilst driving? If when starting could be the turbo actuator arms sticking and not going hrough the full range of motion. Theres a few threads on how to oil hem to stop this.

No it didn't happen from start up,i had driven about 10 miles down the motorway at about 60 mph then came off on to normal roads and stopped at traffic lights, the lights changed and I started to go when a bus crossed across the front of me through a red light and I had to slam the brakes on sharply, thats when the warning popped up for about 2 seconds then went off.everything seems fine and I,m obviously hoping its a one off. 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver

Normally the big faults show under load i.e turbos and egrs so the fact it was when breaking seems to be a good sign!

Have you checked the engine oil level?

Oil level ok and nothing seems amiss and it's been well looked after because I know the guy who had it before me was a work colleague and it has been driven mainly motorway approx 30 miles each day to work and it's now done 88000 miles so I assume motorway mileage is better for the car. I'll see how things progress Very Happy 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver
