Gearbox and or transfer box problem

Hi
I rebuilt my box and engine and reinstalled into the car.
I turned elecs on to find transfer box in low according to light on dash.
I tried the recalibrate amd now the hearlever will not move.
There is a plunger that is locking the gearlever, not the normal Key not in but one that only locks into park or netral. I assume this is related to the trf fuse 37. But its in wether the fuse is in or not but only when ignition is on.
Does anyone know more than me what its doing and why?

The shift interlock solenoid should be de-energised by the application of the foot brake i.e. the transmission ECU cuts the current when it receives a signal from the brake switch. The transmission knows that it’s in ‘P’ or ‘N’ via the inhibitor switch. Is ‘P’ being displayed on the instrument panel?

Too late to look now, to be honest i was kind of assuming it was the trf box causing issues.
I did start car later and it did shift, so i suspect it was all okay, just the problem with the trf box confusing me.
I still have the trf box problem though.

I could not get the trf box to shift itself, i manually actuated the motor and the ecu reported the position correctly but would not do any movement itself, the motor fuse was good as where all the connectors. I think the iid i connected suggested that it wanted to shift but could not, it had the correct current position but a different target position.... anyway I have shifted to high just so i can get the whole lot moving sometime soon.

I am left thinking maybe the ecu is down, unusual but the track looked good in numbers and whilst moving.

Only error message is the air suspension can bus so its a try on that tomorrow...

Transfer box ECUs typically appear on eBay for £20-£25 so it’s not an expensive thing to test by substitution if you suspect that yours is faulty. I generally think of the ECU as being the least likely cause of any issue, though I suppose they must fail occasionally?

Let me know if you still want to try my spare shift motor.

It is a strange one, it knows what position it is in, but makes no effort to move it. I checked power to ecu and that was good, relays looked good to.
Which leaves ecu, of course it wont be it will be a relay in the end but where do you start? Relays are pretty good usually even when used 1000 times let alone the 20 the trf box ones see in a lifetime!

Sorry first for my english... i try my best Smile

I had a lot of "Neutral" "High gear" messages in dash.
After changing bad alternator and new battery it was fine again.
I sometimes had the Message "High gear" on my dash so i decided to take out the fuse
and use no transfer box, is it possible or can you damage something?

Now today... driving back from Hungary i had real problems with my drivetrain. i experienced some hits
when gaining 60/70/80kmh and the rpm drops just a little bit like something is hitting the drivetrain. looks like something is wrong here. i managed to get home the remaining 130km to austria with a max. speed of 70kmh.
first i was thinking my gearbox is dying but i managed to get home und shifting is fine and if you don't pass 50kmh you have no problems. the problem is in nearly every gear (3/4/5), when you have some speed like 70kmh.
when i stopped one time i started again and there was no gear. when i activated "D" i had no power.
i tried transfer box from high to low and back. turned of the car. next try, ignition one. transfer box on "low" suddenly.
i shifted back to high. then tried again, and after some time i was able to drive again.

so now my question: did i damaged the transfer box with deactivating it?
has anyone some ideas where to look first, i have an appointment with my mechanic this week.

Thanks!

Sounds more like the torque converter is breaking up. Well mostly.......
