Forcing DPF regen at home

I have a MY11 4.4 TDV8 and have managed to get myself a red DPF full light while on the way to clear an amber light.

Annoyingly all the local garages are full up for at least a couple of weeks.

Has anyone had any luck forcing a regen with the likes of an icarsoft or Autel? The marketing on them suggests it’s possible but I’ve not found anyone who said they have done it.

Thanks.

I had exactly the same thing. Was your fuel below 1/4 when it happened?

It's not possible to clear a RED yourself, even with an iCarsoft. I tried!

Pls see my DPF Full guide!

Thanks for the reply, I saw your post already. I need to check how much I have in the tank. I was vaguely hoping for some more positive responses on DIY solutions before I plump down the cash probably in vain.

I’m in SE21.

Well somebody might chime in here with a golden answer.

But I spent a lot of time trying to solve it and as far as I can tell there's no way.

That place in Hendon is good (a bit far from you though), if you've got high milage you might want to consider a full remove and clean like I did.

But I've had two other REDs cleared by garages so you can just go that way.

You need to find the cause, if you've got an IIDTOol, check for the P040D-00(2F) error.

. Cheers, Greg

I've been living with relatively frequent amber warnings so I definitely need to track down the problem.

Out of interest, how low could you get your soot levels before you had your DPF properly cleaned?

I have an autel 802 and don't think you can Initiate a dpf regen from it.
For that you need one of their other tools, like 808 I think. Too many toys, not enough time

You can monitor soot levels with an IIDTool
Most owners interested in maintenance or troubleshooting (that's every owner right?) have one, secondhand around £300, new around £400. Otherwise you can spend your money at your trusted garage. They have pro tools costing thousands that can deal with your RED.

. Cheers, Greg
